FIRST ROUND OF PERFORMERS SET FOR THE "40TH ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS," TO BE BROADCAST LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS, TUESDAY, MAY 17 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts and George Strait Set To Perform

Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts and George Strait have been set to perform at the 40TH ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, to be broadcast live from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Tuesday, May 17 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Jackson is a three-time Academy of Country Music Award winner for Top Male Vocalist and is nominated again this year in that category, as well as for Vocal Event of the Year ("Hey Good Lookin'").

Keith has won Entertainer of the Year honors for the past two years, and is nominated for that same award again this year. He is also nominated for Top Male Vocalist, Song of the Year ("American Soldier") and Vocal Event of the Year ("Hey Good Lookin'"). Keith will perform via satellite from his USO tour overseas.

Rascal Flatts is nominated for three awards, including Top Vocal Group, which they have won the past two years, Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year (both for "Bless the Broken Road").

Strait is nominated for Vocal Event of the Year ("Hey Good Lookin'") and has a total of 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, including five for Top Male Vocalist, six for Album of the Year, two for Single Record of the Year, one for Entertainer of the Year and one Gene Weed Special Achievement Award.

During the broadcast, 11 awards honoring the past year's elite in country music will be handed out. Awards will be presented to Entertainer of the Year, Top Male Vocalist, Top Female Vocalist, Top New Artist, Top Vocal Group, Top Vocal Duo, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Vocal Event of the Year and Video of the Year.

The Academy, which is comprised of more than 3,800 professional members and a newly established Associate Membership, is headquartered in Burbank, Calif.
