ANN CURRY REPORTS ON TSUNAMI RECOVERY AND RELIEF EFFORTS -- FRIDAY, JUNE 24

IN HER DEBUT AS CO-ANCHOR FOR "DATELINE NBC," ANN CURRY TRAVELS TO SRI LANKA TO REPORT ON RECOVERY AND RELIEF EFFORTS SIX MONTHS AFTER THE TSUNAMI TRAGEDY

Curry Sits Down with Former President Clinton to Discuss The Relief Effort and American Donations

NEW YORK - June 21, 2005 - In December 2004, the Tsunami disaster left South Asia with about 225,000 people dead or presumed missing, and nearly two million lives displaced. The waves obliterated entire villages, leaving homes flattened to their foundations and survivors numb with grief. In her debut as co-anchor of "Dateline NBC," Ann Curry travels to Sri Lanka's coastal village, Hambantota, to report on how the town is rebuilding and how its people are recovering from the tragedy. Curry also sits down with former President Clinton, the United Nations Special Tsunami envoy, to discuss where the money raised by Americans for Tsunami relief funds is going, and overcoming potential barriers in the rebuilding process, such as government corruption and buffer zones. When asked about aid agencies presence on the ground, Clinton responds candidly to Curry: "They're all there watching. They're all there looking. And they're all there reporting." The report airs this Friday, June 24 on "Dateline," following "Tom Brokaw Reports: The Long War."

David Corvo is the executive producer of "Dateline," (8:00-10:00 PM/ET).
