20/20 reports on the controversy surrounding The Bridge, a documentary film that captures people committing suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. From January through December of 2004, filmmaker Eric Steel used video crews to train cameras on this landmark, which has been the site to more than 1200 suicides since it opened in 1937, among the most of any location in the world. This year Steel released the documentary that shows scenes of some of the jumps he captured 23 of the 24 suicides. As Bob Brown reports, the documentary has spurred a lot of criticism and has been called irresponsible, exploitive, voyeuristic, ghastly and immoral, while others praise Steel and consider his film a call to action to build a higher fence on the bridge to deter potential jumpers. The report airs on 20/20, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

And: Mindless eating are subliminal messages and not your bodys hunger cues telling you to eat? Do people eat more when served on larger plates or drink more from wider glasses? Do the names of foods or the variety of foods offered have an effect on our consumption? Food Science Professor Brian Wansink, who runs the Food and Brand Lab at Cornell University, has done extensive research on this topic and has written a book called Mindless Eating. Regardless of how sort of tuned in we believe we are to our eating habits, we are all a nation of mindless eaters. We really dont pay much attention to what we eat, or how much we eat We eat with our eyes, not with our stomach, he tells John Stossel. 20/20 also conducts its own test on ABC News interns to see first-hand.

Also: At the age of 27, Geralyn Lucas was diagnosed with breast cancer. She faced her fears with a sassy style which led to an inspiring book, Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy. Lucas, who worked for 20/20 when she was diagnosed, tells former colleague Deborah Roberts why she decided to wear bright red lipstick into the operating room, becoming a uniquely feminine warrior. Im going to become that woman I always wanted to be, she says. Her inspiring story will air next week as a movie on Lifetime, starring Sarah Chalke from Scrubs and singer Patti Labelle.

20/20 is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is executive producer.
