JOHN QUIONES EXAMINES THE NEW AGE OF PORNOGRAPHY, ON ABC NEWS PRIMETIME: THE OUTSIDERS, TUESDAY, MARCH 13

Imagine an 18-year-old knowing she could make more money in a month than her parents make in a year. All she has to do is be naked and have sex in front of a camera. Would she do it? Increasingly barriers seem to be dropping and more young people are saying yes. The stigma is disappearing. And with little more than a camera and a self-registered website, virtually anyone can become a porn star. Yet those who enter inhabit a world with its own rules, culture and psychology, and some would say, steep personal price. The money is a temptation, but what ultimately is the cost? John Quiones examines the current world of pornography on Primetime: The Outsiders, TUESDAY, MARCH 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

As a teenager Sunny Lane performed in ice skating competitions. Her parents, Mike and Shelby, were her biggest supporters. Twelve years later Sunny is still performing and her parents are still by her side, except Sunny is no longer skating she is now a porn star. Sometimes described as the Shirley Temple of porn, Sunny openly promotes herself as the girl next door gone hardcore. She tells Quiones, I have an empire and I have a massive team backing me. Among that team are her two managers, her mom and dad, who critique her movies and even collect her underwear to auction them online. Shelby Lane, Sunnys mother, explains that they look at it as a business and that she sees what Sunny does as entertainment. Her father feels comfortable that she is able to have good, safe sex without the heartbreak, and says there are so many worse things she could be. Quiones questions Sunny about what she thinks of her familys values, which to many might seem bizarre.

While Sunny seems to be living a happy career life, viewers meet another woman in the industry, Sophia Lynn. Sophia Lynn goes to Los Angeles to make a lot of money fast so she can raise her young child, who is being raised by Sophias mother. Sophia comes from a Born Again Christian family who is unhappy with her career in porn. Primetime: The Outsiders follows Sophias journey as she grapples with wanting to get back to the church, but also sees her job as a means to an end. Sophia tells Quiones about the difficulties of being in the industry and the toll it takes. Ultimately, Sophia faces a crossroads about whether to get out or stay in the business.

David Sloan is the executive producer of Primetime: The Outsiders.
