A BEAUTIFUL MODEL AND ACTRESS IS BRUTALLY MURDERED IN HER SANTA MONICA HOME, AND HER KILLER LEFT BEHIND PLENTY OF DNA EVIDENCE - BUT WOULD IT LEAD POLICE TO A SURPRISING SUSPECT?

"48 HOURS: HOLLYWOOD SECRETS," SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 2014, 10:00 PM, ET/PT

Maureen Maher and 48 HOURS investigate the brutal murder of Juliana Redding, an aspiring actress and model found dead in her Santa Monica home - as well as the shocking DNA evidence the killer left behind, in this updated rebroadcast of "Hollywood Secrets," to be presented Saturday, June 7, 2014 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Redding was 21 in 2008 and living in Santa Monica, where she chased dreams of stardom. Then Redding was found dead in her home, beaten and strangled. Hoping to erase any evidence of the crime, the killer allegedly left the gas stove on and a candle burning. That didn't work and police were able to uncover a large amount of DNA evidence from the scene.

Police also learned Redding had recently broken up with a wealthy boyfriend, a surgeon, after she learned he had a wife and children. Redding also had a sometime boyfriend, who police said had a history of violent behavior and had visited her home the morning after she was believed to have been killed. But he had an alibi.

However, an examination of the extensive DNA evidence left at the scene created in another unexpected twist - it was from a woman.

Who killed Redding? Maher and 48 HOURS piece together Redding's life, death and the hunt for her killer in "Hollywood Secrets," which is produced by Chuck Stevenson and Greg Fisher. Aime deSimone, Sue McHugh and Stacie Gottsegen are the field producers. Ken Blum, Kevin Dean and Alan Miller are the editors. Kate Harrington is the update producer. Al Briganti is the executive editor. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
