A PREACHER PRAYS FOR ANSWERS TO HIS GIRLFRIEND'S DEATH AND A FORMER TROOPER SPEAKS OUT AFTER THREE TRIALS FOR KILLING HIS FAMILY IN A "48 HOURS" DOUBLE FEATURE, SATURDAY, AUGUST 2 AT 8:00 P.M.

48 HOURS bookends primetime again with two drama-filled mysteries featuring legal twists, intense interviews and surprising outcomes starting at 8:00 PM, ET/PT on Saturday, August 2, 2014 on the CBS Television Network.

Kicking off the night at 8:00 PM, Correspondent Maureen Maher goes head-to-head with inspirational preacher and one-time reality show contestant Brian Randone, whose model girlfriend Felicia Tang died after a night together, in an updated rebroadcast of "The Preacher's Passion."

Randone called police on the morning of Sept. 11, 2009 to say Tang wasn't breathing. He maintained she overdosed on the drug gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, or GHB, which he told police they took before going to bed. Police said they found Tang on the floor nude, eyes wide open, and in a room that looked, according to Detective Richard Doney, like a bomb had gone off. Detectives didn't buy Randone's story, given Tang was bruised, cut and scraped. Randone, however, argued Tang went into convulsions and injured herself because of the GHB.

"There's a proverb that says if you know the truth, the truth will set you free," Randone told Maher. "It's a tragedy. It's a nightmare."

Maher and the 48 HOURS team report on Tang and Randone's shattered dreams in "The Preacher's Passion," through interviews with Randone, his parents, police investigators, Tang's friends, and two of the jurors who played a hand in the outcome of the trial that decided Randone's fate.

Then, at 10:00 PM, Correspondent Richard Schlesinger talks with former Indiana State Trooper David Camm, who was tried three times for killing his wife and children, in an updated rebroadcast of "Walking Free." 48 HOURS has been covering the story of the Camm murders for more than 13 years.

After playing basketball with friends, Camm returned home on Sept. 28, 2000 to find his wife and two children shot dead. His basketball friends maintained he was at the gym the whole time. However, three days later, he was arrested by his former colleagues and charged with killing his family. Prosecutors argued he slipped away from the game, killed his family, and returned. Camm was convicted in two murder trials - each eventually overturned - and was found not guilty in a third.

"It's not hard to find me with a smile on my face - it's just overwhelming happiness that I can't and don't ever want to lose," Camm told Schlesinger.

So what happened? Schlesinger examines the case through interviews with Camm, another man who claims he knows what happened to Camm's family, attorneys and investigators.

Saturday marks the third of a handful of weekends this summer where 48 HOURS is offering an 8:00 PM mystery along with its regular 10:00 PM broadcast. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer of 48 HOURS.
