TWO MURDER CASES - TWO DRAMATIC UPDATES - "48 HOURS" HAS THE FINAL CHAPTERS AND SHOCKING TURNS IN A SATURDAY NIGHT MYSTERY DOUBLE FEATURE

"Killer Performance" - 9:00 PM

"The Last Ride Home" - 10:00 PM

Saturday, Sept. 15

48 HOURS has the latest in two twisted murder cases with shocking turns in a Saturday night mystery double feature to be broadcast Saturday, Sept. 15 (9:00 PM, 10:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

At 9:00 PM, Tracy Smith and 48 HOURS have a new development in the investigation into the murders of Julie Kibuishi and Sam Herr and the tale behind their deaths, in an encore of "Killer Performance." In May 2010, Kibuishi was found dead in Herr's bedroom. She was shot twice in the head. Someone had written "All Yours, F--- You" on her shirt. Herr's father found the scene and called police. Given the circumstances of the crime scene, police believed Herr was a suspect. His friends and family thought otherwise. Herr, a former soldier in the Army, and Kibuishi were considered great friends.

However, nothing in this case was what it seemed. With Herr presumed to be on the run, police followed another trail, which led to an up-and-coming actor named Daniel Wozniak, who was engaged to actress Rachel Buffett. Wozniak had a gruesome story to tell.

Indeed, the investigation unfolded like a big-screen mystery, with Wozniak starring in the lead role. Police tracked a string of leads that led to a California theater, through a series of local ATM machines, and ultimately a California courthouse. But could investigators unravel the story and find out exactly what happened to Kibuishi and Herr?

At 10:00 PM, Maureen Maher and 48 HOURS have the latest on the murder case against wealthy Atlanta lawyer Tex McIver, who was charged with shooting his wife from the backseat of a car while their friend drove them home, in an updated encore of "The Last Ride Home." Diane McIver died from a gunshot wound to the back on Sept. 26, 2016. Tex and Diane McIver were riding in a car driven by friend Dani Jo Carter. When traffic got bad, Diane told Carter to get off the interstate and take back roads toward the tony Buckhead section of Atlanta.

Tex told police he asked for the gun he kept in the car's console because he was concerned about the neighborhood they were in at the time. He told police he fell asleep and that the gun accidentally went off. Tex McIver never dialed 911. Diane later died on the operating table, but not before telling doctors she thought the shooting was an accident.

In December 2016, the Atlanta Police Department investigated the shooting and decided that it was not intentional. The Fulton County District Attorney charged McIver with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. But the district attorney's office thought there was more to the shooting and conducted their own investigation. Four months later, they charged McIver with the murder of his wife.

McIver's trial ended in April. Was it an accident as McIver maintains? Or did McIver want his wife dead, as prosecutors claim?
