AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE (ABC) - Wendie Malick has been cast in the freshman comedy as "Katie's (Katy Mixon) distant mother, Kathryn, described as a less-than-perfect parent and a former flight attendant for Pan Am who, naturally, is a touch narcissistic and is a thorn in Katy's side during the holidays." (EW.com)
CHICAGO MED (NBC) - Mekia Cox has booked a recurring role on the new season as "the adult daughter of Dr. Robin Charles (Oliver Platt), who has followed her father into the medical profession. Gary Lundy will pen the script with Cho and Ben Watkins likewise executive producing. Blue Monday Productions' Eli Dansky will serve as a producer. (Variety.com)
DEPARTED, THE (Amazon, New!) - Jason Richman ("Detroit 1-8-7") is spearheading a small screen take on the Oscar-winning 2006 Martin Scorsese movie, which will now be "set at present-day Chicago, amidst the shifting tides of warring ethnic drug gangs. In it, a young cop goes undercover to infiltrate a ruthless Latino gang, which simultaneously plants its own man in the police department. The show follows these two embattled moles as they attempt to fulfill their mission and stay alive." Amazon Studios, Vertigo Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group, Plan B Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television will co-produce the hour with Graham King, Roy Lee, Michael Connolly, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Sarah Esberg, Tripp Vinson, Doug Davison and Gianni Nunnari among the executive producers. GET SHORTY (Epix) - Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano are on track to star in the upcoming series, a reimagining of Elmore Leonard's 1990 novel-turned-feature. O'Dowd would play Miles Daly, "who works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada. For the sake of his daughter, he attempts to change professions and become a movie producer, laundering money through a Hollywood film. But instead of leaving the criminal world behind, he accidentally brings it with him to Los Angeles." Romano then is eyed for Rick, "a washed up producer of low quality films who becomes Miles' partner and guide through the maze of Hollywood." John Travolta and Gene Hackman originated said roles in the feature incarnation. (Deadline.com)
GOTHAM (FOX) - Mexican actress Naian Gonzalez Norvind is slated to recur as Alice Tetch, "the younger sister of Benedict Samuel's Jervis Tetch (aka the Mad Hatter). Set to debut in the third episode of Season 3, Alice was born with a powerful ability that she cannot control - an ability her brother believes is a gift, but that she has always seen as a curse. As such, she has spent much of her life alone, running from her brother - who will stop at nothing to be reunited in hopes of unleashing her gift on the world." (Variety.com)
HOBBS (ABC, New!) - Michael Caleo ("Rescue Me") has sold a new drama to the Alphabet about Tommy Hobbs, "a former Heisman Trophy winner who joins the Miami police force after not being drafted by the NFL, as well as a meticulous, rule-following detective who has trained her whole life to become a police officer." SMAC Entertainment's Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini also serve as executive producers for ABC Studios. (THR.com)
IZOMBIE (The CW) - Natalie Alyn Lind ("The Goldbergs") will guest star on the new season as Winslow Sutcliffe, "an entitled and somewhat bratty girl who plays an important role in Liv and Clive's investigation into her best friend's murder." (TVLine.com)

UNTITLED ROBERT DURST PROJECT (Lifetime, New!) - Matt Birkbeck's book "A Deadly Secret: The Bizarre and Chilling Story of Robert Durst" is being developed as an original movie by the cable channel. Emmy-nominee Bettina Gilois ("Bessie") will pen the script Lincoln Square Productions and A+E Studios with Linda Berman and Rudy Bednar among the producers. "The film will tell the troubling story of Robert Durst through the eyes and relationship of his wife, Kathy Durst, who disappeared in New York in 1982." Durst, subject of HBO's "The Jinx," is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in Louisiana for weapons possession. (Deadline.com)
