AMERICAN GODS (Starz) - Jesse Alexander has been tapped to take over showrunning duties alongside Neil Gaiman for the show's upcoming second season. They'll succeed original stewards Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. It's understood said sophomore run won't be ready until 2019. (THR.com)
BLACK-ISH (ABC) - Co-star Tracee Ellis Ross will step behind the camera for an upcoming episode this season. (@TraceeEllisRoss)
CODE, THE (A.K.A. J.A.G.) (CBS, New!) - Craig Sweeny and Craig Turk are set to team for a new drama pilot at the Eye about "the military's brightest minds take on our country's toughest challenges - inside the courtroom and out - where each attorney is trained as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, an investigator - and a Marine." Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman are also on board to executive produce via their CBS TV Studios-based Timberman/Beverly Productions. Sweeny penned the script from a story he conceived alongside Turk. (Deadline.com)
GRAND HOTEL (ABC) - Brian Tanen's import of the Spanish format - set against the backdrop of a Miami Beach hotel - has scored a pilot order from the Alphabet. Eva Longoria, Ben Spector, Oliver Bachert and Christian Gockel will also executive produce for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
GUEST BOOK, THE (TBS) - Eddie Steeples and Carly Jibson are both due back as series regulars on the anthology's second season. Jibson "played a local stripper who would blackmail men for money in the small town where they all lived"; while Steeples "played the nephew of Wilfred (Charlie Robinson) and Emma (Aloma Wright)." I FEEL BAD (NBC, New!) - Aseem Batra has received a pilot order from the Peacock and Universal Television for a single-camera comedy about "one woman's hilarious unfiltered take on the side effects of trying to have it all." The project is based on Orli Auslander's book, subtitled "All Day. Every Day. About Everything." CannyLads Productions' Julie Anne Robinson will presumably direct and executive produce alongside Paper Kite Productions' Amy Poehler and 3 Arts Entertainment's Dave Becky and Josh Maurer. Kelly Pancho and Kim Lessing are producing with Auslander serving as a consulting producer. (Deadline.com)
L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (CBS) - Jordan Harper's small screen take on James Ellroy's noir classic novel is also heading to pilot at the Eye. Arnon Milchan, who produced the acclaimed 1997 movie, will also executive produce for CBS TV Studios and Lionsgate TV. (Deadline.com)
MAIN JUSTICE (CBS) - Sascha Penn's drama, inspired by the life of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, has received a pilot order. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed are executive producing for CBS TV Studios alongside Penn and Holder. (Deadline.com)
RED LINE (CBS, New!) - Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss have landed a pilot commitment from the Eye for a new drama about "what happens after a white cop in Chicago mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor. We follow three different families that all have connections with the case as the story is told from each perspective." Ava DuVernay, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are executive producing for the Warner Bros. TV-based Berlanti Productions with Parrish and Weiss as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
SINGULARITY (FX) - The cable channel has passed on the Damon Wayans, Jr.-led comedy pilot, from writer Sonny Lee and fellow executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. (Deadline.com)
THREE RIVERS (ABC, New!) - Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer have booked a pilot order from the Alphabet for a single-camera comedy, which "centers on Rebecca who left her family's Texas ranch years ago to work at an upscale hotel in New York, but after being promised ownership of the ranch by her smooth-talking cowboy dad Beau, she's back and ready to utilize her big city tactics to turn their rustic ranch into a destination spot oozing Southern hospitality." UNTITLED BAD BOYS SPIN-OFF PROJECT (NBC) - Anton Cropper has signed on to direct the Gabrielle Union-led drama pilot, a small screen spin-off of the "Bad Boys" film franchise. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BOBBY BOWMAN PROJECT (ABC) - Bobby Bowman's comedy - which looks at the unexpected benefits of growing up in a family with a dad who has mental illness, as Bowman's father did - is moving forward with a pilot order at the Alphabet. Dawn Ostroff, Jon Koa and Greg Walter also executive produce the ABC Studios-based project. (Deadline.com)
