BARKSKINS (NGC) - The cable channel has given a 10-episode order to the project, a television adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annie Proulx's book, a multigenerational dramatic tale about European settlers finding prosperity in the New World through the slow and steady destruction of North America's forests and native populations. Elwood Reid is spearheading the project, with Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and Garrett Basch also executive producing for Fox 21 Television Studios and Scott Rudin Productions. (Deadline.com)
BLACKLIST, THE (NBC) - Christopher Lambert will drop by the show's sixth season opener as expert assassin Bastien Moreau: "Also known as The Corsican, Moreau is shrouded in so much mystery that his mere existence has long been considered a myth - and he is willing to go to any lengths to regain his anonymity after his true identity is uncovered." (TVLine.com)
DOLLS, THE (HBO, New!) - Laura Dern and Issa Rae are attached to star in a potential limited series which "recounts the aftermath of Christmas Eve riots within two small Arkansas towns in 1983... riots which erupted over, yes,... Cabbage Patch Dolls." Rae, Laura Kittrell and Amy Aniobi are co-writing the project with Rae, Dern, Jayme Lemons and Deniese Davis executive producing for Jaywalker Pictures and Issa Rae Productions. Kittrell and Aniobi will co-executive produce. (Deadline.com)
EIGHT (FOX, New!) - Alison Bennett has sold a single-camera comedy to the network in which "after a whirlwind romance that resulted in a baby and a wedding (in that order), children of divorce Jillian and Trevor attempt to carve out their own family's identity, with eight grandparents there to offer eight million different opinions." Rob Rosell will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
EXHIBIT A (ABC, New!) - The Alphabet is the latest network looking to import the South Korean series "My Lawyer, Mr. Jo," about "disgraced former prosecutor, Andrew Cho, whose career is sabotaged by the corrupt power brokers he's working to take down. But in losing everything, Andrew discovers something new: a life of purpose." Warren Hsu Leonard is penning the hour for ABC Studios with 3AD's Daniel Dae Kim and Rina Brannen likewise executive producing. Kim previously sold the format to CBS in 2016 with Alexi Hawley writing the script. (Deadline.com)
FRIENDS (NBC) - Netflix has confirmed the Warner Bros. Television-produced staple will remain on its service through 2019. (@Netflix)
JANE THE VIRGIN (The CW) - Writer Jennie Snyder Urman, star Gina Rodriguez, executive producer Ben Silverman and director Brad Silberling are looking to re-team for a spin-off of the series, which will wrap its five season run next year. The project is envisioned as "a soapy, telenovela-inspired anthology series in the tradition of Jane the Virgin, where each season is based on a different fictional novel "written by" Jane Villanueva and narrated by the author herself. The first installment, referred to as "Tar & Roses," takes place at the intersection of Napa Valley wine country and the San Francisco art scene." Valentina Garza is penning the script with Silberling attached to direct. Said group will also executive produce alongside Joanna Klein and Emily Gipson for CBS Television Studios, Sutton Street Productions, I Can and I Will Productions and Propagate. (Deadline.com)
LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) - Executive producer Julie Martin has confirmed the show's current 20th season will be 24 episodes. (@JulieMartinSVU)
OUTSIDER, THE (HBO, New!) - A small screen take on Stephen King's bestselling novel is a go at the pay channel with Ben Mendelsohn attached to star and executive produce. In the project, "a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a local boy leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe to be real, as an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case." Richard Price will pen the script with Jason Bateman directing the first two episodes and potentially co-starring. Jack Bender, Aggregate Films' Michael Costigan and Temple Hill Entertainment's Marty Bowen also serve as executive producers for MRC. (Deadline.com)
POLITICIAN, THE (Netflix) - Dylan McDermott and January Jones have both been cast in the series, from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED HALO PROJECT (Showtime) - Rupert Wyatt is stepping down as director and executive producer of the upcoming live-action, scripted drama based on the hallowed Xbox franchise. "It's with great disappointment that changes to the production schedule of Halo prevent me from continuing in my role as a director on the series," said Wyatt. "My time on Halo has been a creatively rich and rewarding experience with a phenomenal team of people. I now join the legion of fans out there, excited to see the finished series and wishing everyone involved the very best." (Deadline.com)
