'Queer Eye,' 'Peacemakers' Take Dips, 'Nip/Tuck' Stays Strong
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- FX's original drama "Nip/Tuck" once again showed little drop off in its latest episode, earning a 2.9 household rating and 3.35 million viewers on Tuesday. That's on par with last week's numbers (3.0 household rating and 3.55 million viewers) and was actually watched by more viewers than its second episode (3.34 million). It also held steady in adults 18-49, with a 1.7/5 rating, down just one-tenth of a share point from last week.

But that's just the first of a boatload of news from the cable networks. Here's a breakdown of the latest rumblings:

BRAVO - Such good news wasn't the case for Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." The makeover series was down 19% in adults 18-49 (1.3/4 vs. 1.6/5) and 15% in viewers (2.27 million vs. 2.86 million) from last week. Nevertheless, "Queer Eye's" viewership was up more than 38% from its debut on July 15 (1.641 million). Fellow Bravo series "Boy Meets Boy" also took a dive on Tuesday, falling 34% from its debut numbers (1.06 million vs. 1.6 million). Among adults 18-49, the series dropped 10% from last week (0.7/2 vs. 0.8/2).

On the flip side, Bravo got some good news about the launch of its cable run of "The West Wing." Monday's official launch at 11:00/10:00c attracted a 0.7 rating and 563,000 viewers, up triple digits from Bravo's usual marks. The 7:00/6:00c episode fared decently, doubling Bravo's season-to-date average in the slot.

MTV - The season finale of "The Osbournes" closed its second season with a 2.8 rating in households and a 1.5/5 performance in adults 18-49, placing a lackluster fifth in the 10:30/9:30c half-hour in the key demographic. It did however build from lead-in "The Real World: Paris," which scored a 2.7 household rating.

COMEDY CENTRAL - The network's roast of Denis Leary on Sunday night became the most watched program in the history of the network that didn't start with the words "South Park." The roast scored a solid 2.6 rating and 3.2 million viewers for the 10:00/9:00c broadcast.

LIFETIME - The cable network's new Saturday lineup took a slight dip in its second week. "1-800-Missing" nabbed a 2.6 rating (2.6 million viewers), off 16% from its bow last week (3.1 rating and 3.3 million viewers). Partner in crime "Wild Card" scored a 2.4 rating (2.5 million viewers), down 11% from its debut (2.7 rating and 2.8 million viewers). Nevertheless, things perked up for the channel with its latest original movie, "A Date with Darkness: The Trial and Capture of Andrew Luster," which grabbed a 3.1 rating and 3.3 million viewers on Monday.

USA - After a stellar start, "Peacemakers" tumbled dramatically in its second week, losing more than 36% of its audience. The second go-around on August 6 posted a 2.8 rating and 3.3 million viewers, off significanlty from the 4.0 rating and 5.2 million viewers from the week before. Despite such a dip however, the western was Wednesday's highest-rated cable show last week.
