Burbank, CA November 9, 2005

The Family Friendly Programming Forum (FFPF), an initiative of the Association of National Advertisers, will celebrate the Seventh Annual Family Television Awards on Wednesday, November 30 at 6 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The Awards will be hosted by Reba McEntire, star of The WB show Reba, and will air on The WB network on Sunday, December 11 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET). Awards will be presented in nine categories: actor, actress, comedy, drama, lifetime achievement, new series, reality, reality host and specials. dick clark productions will produce the show for the seventh consecutive year.

These are the only awards recognizing outstanding programming for family viewing. The awards are given by the members of the Association of National Advertisers. The 40+ major national advertisers that participate in the Forum are taking positive steps to increase family friendly programming choices on television. Their mission is to support and promote the development of family friendly television across all programming genres between the hours of 8 and 10 p.m., when adults and children are most likely to watch television together.

Four new family-friendly programs that were supported by the Forum's Script Development Fund were picked up by the networks this season: Commander In Chief (ABC); Everybody Hates Chris (UPN) and Related (The WB) for the fall; and Old Christine (CBS), which will premiere in midseason. All six major networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, UPN and The WB) participate in the Fund.

Since our inception, The WB Network has programmed for a family audience and believes in the power and responsibility of broadcasters to develop shows that are safe havens for families to watch together, said Bill Morningstar, Executive Vice President, Media Sales of The WB. We believe that family-friendly shows are good business for all involved and The WB applauds the efforts of the Family Friendly Programming Forum for all they have done over the past seven years. The funding of series development has formed a centerpiece for families to share time together to discuss important issues at home and ultimately, more time together viewing translates to higher ratings.
