BURBANK - October 23, 2007 - NBC is looking to paint November sweeps green with environmentally conscious messages woven throughout all of its dayparts on NBC and NBC.com. The weeklong event, part of NBC Universal's overall commitment to eco-friendly content with its "Green is Universal" initiative, begins on Sunday, November 4 with "Sunday Night Football" on NBC and will run through Saturday, November 10. The network will adopt a variety of eco-friendly messages in different degrees across all dayparts, including the entire Thursday-night lineup with "My Name Is Earl," Emmy Award winners "30 Rock," "The Office," "Scrubs," and "ER," as well as the drama series "Life" and "Las Vegas," and the reality shows "Deal or No Deal," "The Biggest Loser" and "The Singing Bee." The announcement, part of NBC Universal's ongoing "Green is Universal" initiative, was made today by Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.

"By creatively weaving stories concerning environmental awareness into our series, we see this as an opportunity to engage the audience and provide a positive social message," said Silverman. "Our ultimate goal is to entertain people while creating a conversation about a universal issue."

Primetime guest stars include Stanley Tucci and Reiko Aylesworth on "ER," Craig T. Nelson on "My Name is Earl," Kermit the Frog on "Deal or No Deal," Tom Cavanagh, who returns to "Scrubs," Jordan Bridges on "Bionic Woman," and Oscar winner and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Al Gore, along with Meredith Vieira and David Schwimmer who will appear in a star-studded "30 Rock."

NBC's popular daytime drama "Days of our Lives" (check local listings) will feature a special eco-awareness themed episode on November 5 when the Salem University students head to the Cheatin' Heart to celebrate a day of hard work planting trees and cleaning up the riverbanks.

The top-rated late-night talk shows will also be taking part in "Green Week" with comedic green-themed podbusters throughout the three shows. "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" will feature five humorous eco-friendly reminders hosted by Ed Begley Jr., while "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" will air "Greening Up the Show" and "Last Call with Carson Daly" will offer green tips in its three original podbusters. Leno, who is known to drive a different car to work everyday, will be arriving at the Burbank studio in a variety of environmentally sound vehicles for the week. Even the guests are connected to "green" messages with an appearance by recent Oscar winner and Nobel Peace Prize Recipient Al Gore on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (November 8). In addition, "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" will feature guests on the November 7 show whose names incorporate the word green. Not to be out-done, "Saturday Night Live's" "Weekend Update" is scheduled to have a Green Week feature on November 10.

"Green is Universal" also hits the Internet as NBC.com goes green on Sunday, November 4 at 3 p.m. (ET). The site will feature green tips from each of the themed shows, "The More You Know" eco-friendly messages from NBC stars, green blogs from the executive producers of fan favorites such as "ER" and "Las Vegas" as well as videos which will feature highlights from the shows, celebrity public service announcements and a behind-the-scenes look at "Days of our Lives" star Peter Reckell's environmentally sound home.

NBC Universal expands its ongoing environmental commitment with "Green is Universal" - an unprecedented, companywide weeklong programming effort. Through its worldwide programming, specials and consumer-focused events, the week will focus the entire company's resources and efforts toward educating viewers, web & wireless users, and the company's employees on ecological issues and our impact on the environment. NBCU's weeklong global event takes place Sunday, November 4 through Saturday, November 10.
