By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

THE END OF STEVE (Showtime) - Kiele Sanchez ("Samantha Who?"), Eddie Shin ("That '80s Show"), Nate Torrence ("Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip"), Dreama Walker ("Gossip Girl") and stage mainstay Martha Plimpton have all joined the cast of the Matthew Perry-led comedy pilot, about an egomaniacal local talk show host (Perry) who is on a reluctant path to redemption. Sanchez will play his pretty co-host, by whom he is completely entranced; with Shin as Bob Hu, Steve's boss; Torrence as Nathan, Steve's assistant; Walker as the hot teen daughter of the manager of the apartment complex where Steve lives; and Plimpton as the show's producer. Sony Pictures Television is behind the hour, which comes from executive producers Perry and Peter Tolan.

FLASH FORWARD (ABC) - Sonya Walger ("Tell Me You Love Me") has landed the female lead on the drama pilot, about the chaos that ensues after everyone in the world passes out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds and has a vision of the future. She'll play Olivia Banford, the wife of Joseph Fiennes's character, who is disturbed by her vision of being in love with another man. Also signing on is Christine Woods as Janis Hawk, a computer-savvy FBI agent who helps to uncover a pivotal clue in the mystery. Courtney B. Vance, Jack Davenport and John Cho also star in the ABC Studios-based hour, which comes from co-creators David S. Goyer and Brannon Braga.

UNTITLED POLITICAL THRILLER (AMC) - Jessica Collins ("The Nine") is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about a secret society that pulls the strings on the world political stage and a brilliant analyst at a national think tank who uncovers it. She'll play the analyst's (yet to be cast) trusting research assistant. Christopher Evan Welch, Lauren Hodges and Miranda Richardson also star in the hour, which Allen Coulter is directing from a script by Jason Horwitch.
