THE ALL-NEW HALF-HOUR VERSION OF "DEAL OR NO DEAL" CELEBRATES OUR NATION'S HEROES IN MARCH
The Season's #1 New Monday-Friday Syndicated Show to Feature "Firefighters Week" and "Teachers Week" during March Sweeps
Los Angeles, CA-March 3, 2009--NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution and Endemol USA's all-new half-hour version of "Deal or No Deal" is turning the spotlight on our nation's heroes with opportunities to win big bucks in March on the #1 new original Monday-Friday show in syndication.
Starting March 9, "Deal or No Deal" will celebrate the service of our firefighters and teachers with two special theme weeks to air during March sweeps. The show welcomes firefighters all throughout Firefighters Week (March 9 - 13) and teachers during Teachers Week (March 23 - 27), as they each get a chance to play the game to win a life-changing sum of money.
"Our firefighters and teachers cannot get enough gratitude for the service they provide our nation," says Executive Producer Scott St. John. "We wanted to recognize their sacrifice with a chance to win the top prize and have fun with Howie and their peers on the show."
The new daily edition of "Deal or No Deal", hosted by Howie Mandel, is currently the highest-rated new original Monday-Friday show in syndication and it continues to deliver consistent ratings growth, maintaining a 2.2 GAA HH rating. "Deal" has the youngest median age of all syndicated game shows and the highest concentration of women 18-49, women 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 among all syndicated games, as well. And "Deal or No Deal" is the highest-rated game show launch in six years.
Viewers at home can also play to win $10,000 each week by logging on to www.DealorNoDealTV.com or by calling toll free 888-DEAL-10K. In addition to entering Deal's 10K Giveaway, fans can also log onto to the website to watch exclusive video content, check out photos of the models and download widgets for their own social networking profiles.
Each weekday, the game of odds and chance unfolds when a wheel is spun and a lucky contestant is chosen to play the game and confronted with 22 sealed briefcases full of varying amounts of cash -- ranging from a measly penny to the top prize of $500,000. Without knowing the amount in each briefcase, the contestant picks one - his or hers to keep, if they choose -- until its unsealing at game's end.
Based on the successful format from Endemol that has aired in more than 50 countries, "Deal or No Deal" is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding and distributed in national syndication by NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.
