NEW POST-APOCALYPTIC THRILLER "AFTERMATH," FROM HALFIRE ENTERTAINMENT, TO AIR ON SYFY AND SPACE THIS SUMMER

-- Production on 13-Episode Series Begins May 2 in Vancouver --

NEW YORK - March 3, 2016 - AFTERMATH, a new 13-episode thriller produced by Halfire Entertainment in association with Syfy and Space, will premiere on Syfy in the United States and Bell Media's Space in Canada later this summer, it was announced today. Production will begin May 2 in Vancouver.

AFTERMATH centers on one family: Karen and Joshua Copeland and their children Dana, Brianna and Matt, who must battle for survival after civilization comes to an apocalyptic end, triggered by massive storms, meteor strikes, earthquakes and plague - and the rise of supernatural creatures.

Said Noreen Halpern, President of Halfire Entertainment: "Nothing captures the human imagination quite like fantasies of our own destruction -- every culture has its own myth. It's incredibly exciting and fulfilling to be creating an entirely new legend for Syfy and Space, in partnership with twisted visionaries like Bill Laurin and Glenn Davis. In this case, the end is only the beginning."

"Halfire Entertainment has brought to Syfy a powerful and poignant story of a lone family fighting against a mad world turned upside down," said Chris Regina, Senior Vice President, Program Strategy, Syfy & Chiller.

Said Tracey Pearce, Senior Vice President of Specialty and Pay, Bell Media: "Space delivers the most compelling and unique genre programming, and AFTERMATH is a natural fit with its roster. We're confident this thrilling series will satisfy Space's discerning viewers."

A trio of rising stars has been signed to play three siblings coming of age in the Apocalypse:

Julia Sarah Stone ("The Killing", "Falling Skies") plays the practical, sardonic and quick-witted twin with a thorough knowledge of science, Dana Copeland.

Taylor Hickson ("Deadpool") is the emotional, romantic and rebellious twin, Brianna Copeland.

Levi Meaden ("The Killing", "Olympus") plays their brother Matt Copeland, the fierce competitor pushed into brutality.

AFTERMATH will feature guest stars throughout the season, including Leslie Hope ("Tyrant", "24") who will also direct two episodes.

AFTERMATH creator/showrunners will be William Laurin and Glenn Davis ("Missing", "Power Play", "John Woo's Once a Thief"). Jason Stone ("This is the End", "The Calling"), will direct the first two episodes. Laurin and Davis will executive produce along with Julie Hope. Suzanne Berger and Connie Dolphin will produce. Jason Stone is consulting producer.

Also set to direct this season are Stefan Pleszczinski ("Being Human", "Supernatural"), Kaare Andrews ("Altitude", "Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero"), April Mullen ("Killjoys") and James Marshall ("Smallville," "The Shannara Chronicles").

Halfire will distribute in Canada. Universal Cable Productions will have International distribution.
