BROOKLYN NINE-NINE (FOX) - Eric Roberts has been cast as Jimmy "The Butcher" Figgis, "the cop comedy's oft-referenced yet unseen murderous mafia boss that Jake (Andy Samberg) and Holt (Andre Braugher) have been trying to take down." (EW.com)
CHICAGO MED (NBC) - Betty Buckley will guest on an upcoming episode as Olga Barlow, "an elderly patient whose desire to keep up with appearances has an adverse effect on her health." (THR.com)
FREQUENCY (The CW) - Rob Mayes ("Mistresses") is set to recur as Detective Kyle Mosbey, "charmingly cocky detective and Raimy's equal and surprise love interest. Kyle challenges Raimy's idea of the perfect guy for her. He understands that life on the job can leave little room for a conventional relationship, but neither can deny their connection." (EW.com)
FUTURE MAN (Hulu) - Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Matt Tolmach's comedy pilot - about Josh Futterman (Josh Hutcherson), "an uninspired and dejected janitor by day/gamer by night who becomes earth's unlikely hero when he is recruited by mysterious visitors to travel through time in order to prevent the extinction of humanity" - has been given a 13-episode order by the streaming service. Ariel Shaffir and Kyle Hunter penned the Sony Pictures Television-based pilot from a story by the duo and Howard Overman. (Deadline.com)
MISTRESSES (ABC) - The Alphabet has pulled the plug on the summer mainstay after four seasons. (Deadline.com)
MIX UP, THE (CBS, New!) - Sam Laybourne ("The Michael J. Fox Show") has sold a single-camera comedy to the Eye "based on his life as the father in an interracial family." ABC Studios is behind the half-hour, which has a put pilot commitment. (THR.com)
RAVEN (HBO, New!) - "Breaking Bad" alums Vince Gilligan and Michelle MacLaren are developing a limited series at the pay channel about Jim Jones, "the infamous leader of the Peoples Temple cult who led his followers to a mass murder-suicide in Jonestown, Guyana, in 1978." Octavia Spencer and Reilly Smith, who had optioned the source material ("Raven: The Untold Story of Jim Jones and His People" by Tim Reiterman), will co-produce. Gilligan's Sony Pictures Television-based High Bridge Productions is behind the project. (Deadline.com)
SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL (FX) - The cable channel has opted to cancel the Dennis Leary-led comedy after two seasons. (Deadline.com)
STRANGE NEW THINGS (Amazon) - Richard Madden ("Game of Thrones") is set to star in the drama pilot, based on Michel Faber's book about "a priest, who is sent into space to help found a new colony but what he ends up discovering not only puts his faith to the test but life as we know it." SUPERNATURAL (The CW) - Kara Royster will guest on the new season as Alicia, "a fellow hunter who crosses paths with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) in episode six of the upcoming season. Raised by a witch, Alicia and her brother Max now hunt the things that go bump in the night." Additionally, Samantha Smith will return as Mary Winchester and Adam Rose as Aaron Bass. (Variety.com)
TERROR, THE (AMC) - Tobias Menzies ("The Outlander") is the first to be cast in the anthology drama series. He'll play "a member of the Royal Navy" in the project, "a fictionalized account of Captain Sir John Franklin's lost expedition of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED FBI PROJECT (USA, New!) - The cable channel has quietly begun production on a new unscripted series produced in conjunction with the FBI. No other details were given by the project, which will be executive produced by Wolf Reality's Dick Wolf and Tom Thayer; Marc Levin of Brick City Television; and Anne Beagan from the FBI New York office of public affairs. UNTITLED KOURTNEY KANG PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Kourtney Kang ("Fresh Off the Boat") has sold a new comedy to the Peacock that "will explore what it's like to grow up as the only girl in the only mixed race family in the suburbs of Philadelphia, dealing with real-world issues like race and gender while never losing focus of her life goal... to become a Laker Girl like her idol, Paula Abdul." Fierce Baby's Nahnatchka Khan and director Fred Savage also serve as executive producers for the 20th Century Fox Television-based project, which has a put pilot commitment. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED LON ZIMMET PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Lon Zimmet ("Superstore") has sold a single-camera comedy to the Peacock about "a young interracial married couple, Evan and Nicole, whose plan to move into Nicole's parents' house goes awry when she takes a temporary job transfer across the country. This leaves Evan - who is black - stuck living alone with his two intrusive, uninhibited white in-laws, exploring the question: What happens when your in-laws are your roommates?" Wendi Trilling, Dana Honor and Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan also serve as executive producers of the Universal Television-based project, which has a penalty attached. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MATT O'NEILL PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Matt O'Neill (Bait & Switch) has booked a potential drama at the Peacock about "a brilliant doctor who specializes in treating the world's greatest sports stars. When the doctor undergoes a health crisis, it forces him to rethink his approach to medicine with the help of a gifted sports psychologist." Nicolas Falacci and Cheryl Heuton will co-write the hour, which has a penalty attached, alongside O'Neill for the Warner Bros. Television-based SpringHill Entertainment. The company's LeBron James and Maverick Carter will also executive produce with Dr. James Andrews on board as an executive consultant. (THR.com)
WHITE FAMOUS (Showtime) - Jacob Ming-Trent has been tapped for a role on the Jay Pharoah-led comedy pilot as Ron Balls, "Floyd's (Pharoah) roommate who works as a postman." (Deadline.com)
