CHIEFS (CBS) - Alana de la Garza ("Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders") is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about the professional and personal lives of three driven, successful, but very different women who are each Chiefs of Police of their own precincts in L.A. County. She'll play Beverly Hills Chief Candace Krause: "She knows her job is all about politics and image - and she handles it with confidence. A law school grad who went straight to detective work, and then made Captain before being promoted to Chief." In addition, Zetna Fuentes ("How to Get Away with Murder") has been tapped to direct the hour. (Deadline.com)
GREATEST AMERICAN HERO, THE (ABC) - George Wendt, Gia Sandhu and Zenobia Shroff have all landed roles on the Hannah Simone-led reboot of the cult classic series, which has also added Christine Gernon ("Speechless") as director/executive producer. Wendt will play Meera's (Simone) boss, Bob Rice; with Shroff as Leena, "Meera's elegant, inscrutable mother"; and Sandhu as Mona, "Meera's pretty, Type A sister." (Deadline.com)
MANIFEST (NBC) - Melissa Roxburgh ("Valor") and Josh Dallas ("Once Upon a Time") are the first to board the high-concept drama pilot, in which a plane disappears from radar and returns five years later after being untraceable and presumed lost at sea. Roxburgh will play Michaela Stone: "Wracked with guilt over a tragic accident, Michaela anguishes about whether she's fit to be a police officer and fiancée. When she mysteriously returns years later after being missing, she finds her life with a strange new purpose." Dallas then will play Ben Stone: "The quintessential type-A father and intelligence analyst, Ben struggles against what he can't control - whether it's his son's rare pediatric cancer or the mysterious voice that's now inside his head." Roxburgh's involvement is in second position to The CW drama, which aired its season - and likely series - finale last month. (Deadline.com)
PASSAGE (FOX) - Jamie McShane and Caroline Chikezie have both joined the cast of the revamped drama pilot, an epic, character-driven thriller about a secret government medical facility experimenting with a dangerous virus that could either cure all disease or cause the downfall of the human race. McShane will play Dr. Tim Fanning, "who is Patient Zero"; while Chikezie will play Dr. Major Nichole Sykes, "leader of Project Noah." (Deadline.com)
STRANGE ANGEL (CBSAA) - Bella Heathcote ("The Man in the High Castle") is set to star opposite Jack Reynor in the upcoming drama as Susan Parsons, "Jack's (Reynor) devoted and fiercely intelligent wife. Susan backs Jack up in his endeavors, both financially and emotionally, partially out of faith, primarily out of love. Susan begins the show saddled with a nagging sense of shame that makes it difficult to express her own displeasure with Jack as he ignores her warnings about this new fringe religion Ernest has introduced them to." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED TIM DOYLE PROJECT (ABC) - Michael Cudlitz ("The Walking Dead") has booked the lead role on the single-camera comedy pilot, about an Irish-Catholic family with a working class dad, traditional mom and eight sons as they struggle to cope in the turbulent 1970's. He'll play said patriarch Mike Dwyer. (Deadline.com)
