ACT, THE (Hulu) - Oscar and Emmy winner Patricia Arquette is the first to be cast in the anthology series, which follows Gypsy Blanchard, "a girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother, Dee Dee (Arquette). Her quest for independence opens a Pandora's box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder." (Deadline.com)
AMERICAN WOMAN (Paramount) - The cable channel has canceled its Alicia Silverstone-led comedy after one season. The show's August 23 finale drew 746,000 viewers (224,000 adults 18-49) in Live+3, down from its June 7 launch of 1.004 million viewers (503,000 adults 1849). (Deadline.com)
BLACK LIGHTNING (The CW) - Sofia Vassilieva has been cast as DC Comics hero Looker, who's been everything from "a mousy bank teller who following a metahuman (and glam) transformation joined the Outsiders superhero team, to, yes, a vampire" in the comics. (TVLine.com)
