68 WHISKEY (Paramount Network) - Linc Hand has booked a role on the upcoming drama as Crash, "a pilot with a unique nickname." (Deadline.com)
DEPUTY (FOX) - Natalia Cigliuti will recur on the midseason entry as Teresa, "the wife of Deputy Cade Walker (Brian Van Holt). She's a prestigious law school graduate who turned her back on offers from top law firms to become a public defender in the Los Angeles Superior Court and represent the long-forgotten people in LA." DMZ (HBO Max, New!) - Writer Roberto Patino and director Ava DuVernay have scored a pilot order from the streaming service for a small screen take on Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli's DC Comics title, which "imagines a second American Civil War in the near future." Syfy previously took a stab at the property in 2014 with Andre and Maria Jacquemetton writing. The new incarnation will "center on a female medic on the island who is trying day-in and day-out to help keep residents alive while trying to also find her lost son. In the process, that determined medic proves a source of hope in an America that has lost all sense of the idea." Warner Bros. Television and DuVernay's Array Filmworks will co-produce. DRIFT (CBS, New!) - Christopher Salmanpour has booked a potential drama at the Eye in which "after the disappearance of her wife on a scuba trip, a renowned and fearless oceanographer forms an unorthodox but highly skilled team of specialists who take on the unique challenge of solving crimes committed at sea where evidence and clues are as fickle as the tides, devoting themselves to bringing closure to victims who rarely get it." CBS Television Studios is behind the hour with Anna Fricke, Craig Turk and Rideback's Dan Lin also set to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
EMPIRE (FOX) - Alexandra Grey will recur on the show's final season as Melody Barnes, "a badass singer/songwriter/producer with a quick mouth covered by a chosen shyness." (Deadline.com)
FOR LIFE (ABC) - Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson will recur on the midseason drama as Cassius Dawkins, "a tough, long-term inmate who has been newly transferred to Bellmore prison." Jackson also serves as an executive producer on the project. (TVLine.com)
GRAND HOTEL (ABC) - The Alphabet has opted to pull the plug on the summer drama after one season (Deadline.com)
LET'S STAY TOGETHER (ABC, New!) - "My Wife and Kids" alums Damon Wayans and Don Reo are re-teaming for a new multi-camera comedy at the Alphabet which "will star Wayans as a single father who finds out it's hard to get rid of millennial kids, and their kids." They'll co-write the half-hour for ABC Studios and it has a penalty attached. (Deadline.com)
MADAM C.J. WALKER (Netflix) - The Octavia Spencer-led limited series has cast Cornelius Smith, Jr. as W.E.B. Dubois, "America's foremost black intellectual and civil rights activist who is publisher of The Crisis and a co-founder of the NAACP, who befriends Walker"; Keeya King as Peaches, "a stunning, tomboyish jazz singer who befriends Walker's daughter Lelia (Tiffany Haddish)"; and J. Alphonse Nicholson as John Robinson, "Lelia's musician husband who can't seem to get on Madam Walker's good side, no matter how hard he tries." (Deadline.com)
MANIFEST (NBC) - Leah Gibson and Carl Lundstedt are slated to recur on the show's sophomore run as Tamara, "the alluring and street smart bartender of an X'er hangout"; and Billy, "Tamara's protective and hot-headed brother," respectively. (Deadline.com)
MIRACLE WORKERS (TBS) - Lolly Adefope's Rosie has been promoted to regular for the show's second season. Additionally, Tony Cavalero, Jessica Lowe, Peter Serafinowicz and Jamie Demetriou are slated to recur while Fred Armisen, Anna Drezen, Miles Robbins, Kerri Kenney, Jon Daly and Zeke Nicholson will guest star. PUNKY BREWSTER (Peacock) - Cherie Johnson has joined the cast of the revival series, reprising her role of Cherie, "best friend of Punky (Soleil Moon Frye) since they were kids. In fact, they're more like sisters. To Punky's kids, she's Aunt Cherie. Her life-long friendship with Punky inspired her to become a social worker, helping orphaned kids." Steve and Jim Armogida are behind the pilot, which will be directed by Jonathan Judge. Main Event Media's Jimmy Fox will executive produce alongside the Armogidas, Frye and original series creator David W. Duclon. Universal Content Productions and Universal Television are co-producing. SHAMELESS (Showtime) - Mary Kay Place and Elizabeth Rodriguez have both scored roles on the upcoming 10th season: Aunt Oopie, "the irritatingly sweet aunt to Tami (Kate Miner), who is the girlfriend of Lip (Jeremy Allen White)"; and Faye, "a femme fatale who takes to Frank (William H. Macy) for reasons at first not understood," respectively. (Deadline.com)
STAND, THE (CBSAA) - Nat Wolff has been tapped for the Stephen King adaptation as Lloyd Henreid, "a petty criminal who becomes fiercely loyal to Randall Flagg, the Dark Man (Alexander Skarsgård)." (Deadline.com)
SWAGGER (Apple TV+) - Winston Duke has been tapped for the lead role on the basketball-themed drama series as Ike, "a youth basketball coach and former star player." Samantha Corbin-Miller, Kevin Durant, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo and Rich Kleiman are the executive producers for CBS Television Studios, Imagine Television and Thirty Five Ventures. UNTITLED TREVOR NOAH PROJECT (Quibi, New!) - Trevor Noah is set to host a potential series for the short-form video service in which he takes "a tour to the far corners of the country and beyond." Comedy Central Productions, Day Zero Productions, Bob Bain Productions and Mainstay Entertainment are all behind the project, with Noah, Haroon Saleem, Bob Bain, Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin serving as executive producers.
