I AM A KILLER: RELEASED (Netflix, New!) - The streaming service has ordered a three-part spin-off series focusing on "the story of Dale Wayne Sigler who was sentenced to death thirty years ago for a cold-blooded murder he admitted to committing." Znak & Co. is also behind the project, with Danny Tipping, Ned Parker and Natalka Znak executive producing and Itamar Klasmer directing. (Deadline.com)
INTO THE DARK (Hulu) - Barry Watson, Sonita Henry, Marvin "Krondon" Jones III, Lilli Birdsell, Kate Cobb, Ezra Buzzington and Joshua Burge will star in the anthology's July 17 installment, written by Alston Ramsay and directed by Julius Ramsay. "Trapped in a mysterious psychiatric ward, the episode follows a man with no memory comes to believe that he's the President of the United States and the subject of a diabolical political conspiracy. As the asylum's soul-crushing forces bear down on him, he fights to preserve his sanity and escape so that he can return to power." The episode is believed to be its last completed before the COVID-19 production shutdown. (Deadline.com)
MAGICAL GIRL FRIENDSHIP SQUAD (Syfy) - Quinta Brunson, Anna Akana, Ana Gasteyer and Matteo Lane are set as regulars on the upcoming animated series, about two young women, Alex (Brunson) and Daisy (Akana), who are destined to save the Universe... as soon as they figure out how to pay their rent. Gasteyer portrays Nut and Lane is Corvin. Also on tap are Christine Baranski as Verus, Manny Jacinto as Coffee Dude, Helen Hong and Eric Bauza as Daisy's mom and dad, Sarah "Squirm" Sherman as Lulu, Jason Mantzoukis as The Emptier, Paget Brewster as Gloriana, Vella Lovell as CBD Monster, Jamie Loftus as Nightscreamr, Patti Harrison as The Mushroominations, and Stephanie Sheh, Taylor Ortega and Daisy Hobbs in multiple roles. PURGE, THE/TREADSTONE (USA) - The cable channel has pulled the plug on the dramas, both of which wrapped their runs in December. Said decision is "part of an overall programming shift at the NBCU network away from ongoing scripted series toward more live and unscripted programming, along with "eventized" scripted projects." SUPERMAN & LOIS (The CW) - Inde Navarrette will round out the cast of the upcoming drama as Sarah Cushing, "the daughter of Kyle (Erik Valdez) and Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a whip-smart, supercool wild child with some demons in her past who becomes friends with the Kent boys, Jonathan and Jordan."
