Eugenio Derbez will return for two new seasons of Amazon Prime Video's Original Series "LOL: Last One Laughing"

MEXICO CITY - January 26th, 2021 - Amazon Prime Video announced today that the Mexican edition of its original series LOL: Last One Laughing has been renewed for two more seasons, again led by international star Eugenio Derbez. Season 3 will launch later in 2021 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Eugenio Derbez recently won the Daytime Emmy(R) for the 'Outstanding Daytime Talent in a Spanish Language Program' category for his work on the previous season of LOL: Last One Laughing.

In this unscripted series, Derbez pits 10 famous Mexican comedians against one another to see who can keep a straight face while trying to make others laugh. They are eliminated one-by-one until a single comedian prevails, taking home one million Mexican pesos.

"I'm very excited that I will able to host again this hilarious show that has taken Mexico's comedy scene to a completely new level, and allowed us to showcase Mexican talent with audiences around the world," said Derbez. "I simply can't wait to see what the new group of comedians are preparing to beat eachother in the name of laughter."

"We are thrilled to have Eugenio Derbez on board for two more seasons of LOL in Mexico. The show is a milestone and drives global attention to the comedy scene in Mexico. I am sure Prime members will agree that the bar continues to rise with each new season and the showdown in the next two will be unpredictable," stated Javiera Balmaceda, Head of Local Originals, Spanish Speaking Latin America at Amazon Studios.

LOL: Last One Laughing is showrun by Marie Leguizamo of Endemol Shine Boomdog and is produced by Derbez and partner Ben Odell's 3Pas Studios and Endemol Shine Boomdog. This new series is an adaptation of the wildly popular Amazon Original series in Japan, HITOSHI MATSUMOTO Presents Documental, produced and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto who leads ten comedians who bet money in an anything goes "battle of laughter behind closed doors." Along with Mexico, the LOL: Last One Laughing series has been adapted for audiences in Australia, Germany, Spain and Italy.

The Amazon Original series follows the select group of talented comics who are yet to be unveiled, and come from different styles including stand-up, character, improvisational and physical comedy, among others.

Along with the new seasons of LOL: Last One Laughing, Eugenio Derbez returns to Prime Video following the popular Amazon Original docu-comedy series De Viaje con los Derbez, which was recently renewed for a second season, and is part of the growing slate of Mexican Amazon Originals including critically acclaimed series like El Juego de las Llaves, Pan y Circo, Como Sobrevivir Soltero and Un Extraño Enemigo, among others.

Prime members will be able to stream the series exclusively via the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online. Members can also download the series to mobile devices for offline viewing at no additional cost to their membership. The series will be a global release and available for Prime Video members in more than 200 countries and territories.
