BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED (IMDb TV, New!) - Chris Marcil and Sam Johnson have sold an "unconventional workplace" comedy to the streamer "following Christine Kimbrough, a prodigal daughter who returns to Dallas as a rookie pastor and is tasked with keeping her family's church alive in the face of rival megachurches, money problems and the presence of her predecessor and toughest critic - her father, Robert." Chris Godsick and Peri Gilpin are also executive producing for 3 Arts Entertainment and Industry Entertainment. (Variety.com)
BREN RENTS (FOX) - The network's domestic take on the British series "Stath Lets Flats" is reportedly near a pilot presentation order. Joe Mande is attached to pen the script. (Deadline.com)
CSI: VEGAS (CBS) - Paul Guilfoyle will reprise his "CSI" role of Jim Brass in two episodes of the upcoming sequel series. Additionally, Jamie McShane is set to recur as Anson Wix, "a civil attorney. A self-made scrapper, he's someone you'd want in your corner, but the last person you'd want to face off. After years of hard work, he now has his own practice." (Deadline.com)
ECHO 3 (Apple TV+) - Luke Evans is the first to be cast in the action-thriller drama series as Bambi, Amber's brother. (Deadline.com)
FED, THE (IMDb TV, New!) - Nkechi Okoro Carroll has sold a potential drama to the streamer which "follows the personal and career drama surrounding a group of young finance hopefuls as they begin an elite fellowship with the Federal Reserve, the nation's most powerful financial institution. These young financial geniuses are destined for greatness - provided they don't screw it all up with secrets, lies, sex, and politics." Adesuwa McCalla will also executive produce for Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Television. (Variety.com)
GIRLS WITH BRIGHT FUTURES (Discovery+, New!) - Tracy Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman's book - which "deals with a college admissions scandal in an elite Seattle community in which a group of mothers will do anything they can to make sure their daughters get accepted into the best universities" - is being developed as a mini-series by the streamer. GREEK CANDY (IMDb TV, New!) - Melina Kanakaredes is attached to star in a single-camera comedy at the streamer "about a mom, dad, their three teenage daughters, four "very Greek" immigrant grandparents, and one very non-Greek "adopted" son is a celebration of vibrant Greek culture, Midwestern family values, and what it means to live the American dream in 2021." Kanakaredes co-wrote the project alongside Marc Firek for Sony Pictures Television with Osprey Productions' Josh Berman and Jennifer Robinson likewise executive producing. (Variety.com)
LA BREA (NBC) - The upcoming drama will set up shop in Australia for principal photography, visual effects and post-production. In addition, Thor Freudenthal will direct the debut episode. (Deadline.com, 5/2)
LAST POLICEMAN, THE (FOX) - A small screen take on Ben H. Winters's sci-fi mystery novel - which follows a detective in New Hampshire during the final years of civilization as a catastrophe-level asteroid hurtles toward the planet - is reportedly on track for a pilot order at FOX. Kyle Killen is behind the project, which was last set up at NBC in 2016 with Sony Pictures Television-based Original Films' Neal Moritz and Pavun Shetty executive producing. (Deadline.com)
ON CALL (IMDb TV, New!) - Dick Wolf has landed a half-hour drama at the streaming service which "follows a pair of police officers on patrol in Long Beach, CA. Each episode will track the duo as they respond to a new radio call, arriving on the scene to resolve an incident." Wolf Entertainment, Universal Television and digital studio ATTN: are producing. PENNYWORTH (Epix) - Negotiations between the pay channel and producer Warner Bros. Television for a third season are ongoing with HBO Max potentially landing the initial window. (Deadline.com)
PRADEEPS OF PITTSBURGH, PA, THE (IMDb TV, New!) - Writer Vijal Patel and director Michael Showalter are set to team for a proposed comedy at the streamer which "follows an Indian family and the tumultuous yet humorous events of the two years since they arrived in Pittsburgh. Told as a comedic mystery for the audience to unravel, we discover what pushed them to the brink, leading to their present immigration woes." Sara Gilbert, Tom Werner, Mandy Summers and Jordana Mollick will also executive produce for Sony Pictures Television. (Variety.com)
PRIMO (A.K.A. UNTITLED SHEA SERRANO PROJECT) (IMDb TV) - Shea Serrano's proposed comedy - billed as "a coming-of-age story about a Mexican-American teenager balancing cultural norms, college aspirations, societal expectations and the hectic home life of being raised by his single mom and five uncles" - has found a new home at the streaming service. The project was originally set up at ABC in 2017 with Fremulon's Michael Schur and 3 Arts Entertainment's David Miner also executive producing for Universal Television. (Variety.com)
SCARFACE AND THE UNTOUCHABLE (Showtime, New!) - Ben Jacoby is developing a TV take on Max Allen Collins and A. Brad Schwartz's nonfiction book, subtitled "Al Capone, Eliot Ness and the Battle for Chicago," at the pay channel. The show will "delve into prohibition-era politics, industrialization, mass media, the immigrant experience, law enforcement and the birth of organized crime. It will span from the roaring '20s into the Great Depression, from South Side slums all the way up to the White House. It will show how Al Capone corporatized crime on a level never before imagined, and how Eliot Ness, one of the most revolutionary cops in American history, fought an uphill battle to reform law enforcement, a battle that continues to this day." Secret Hideout's Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin and Aaron Baiers will also executive produce for CBS Studios with Alan Gasmer, Bob Bookman, Peter Jaysen and Bill Nuss producing. (Deadline.com)
