BATWOMAN (The CW) - Executive producer Caroline Dries took to Twitter with the news the series has been canceled after three seasons. (@carolinedries)
BOONS AND CURSES/DINO DAYCARE (Netflix) - The streamer has nixed both kids-themed animated series as "creative impasses on each show led to the decision to scrap them." Jeff King was behind the former, first announced in October 2020; while Jaydeep Hasrajani was behind the latter, first announced in May 2021. (THR.com)
CONFESSIONS (Netflix, New!) - Paul Wesley is attached to star in a new drama series at the streamer based on Jason Smith's non-fiction 2015 article "The Confessions of a Drug-Addicted High School Teacher." Smith's article "chronicles his two-year stint teaching public high school in northern California. Despite teaching while anesthetized by a heavy dose of prescription narcotics, Jason finds that his brokenness from addiction begins attracting broken students, and in a town obsessed with high school football, he's not alone in his obsession to escape from himself." Julie Plec and Bradley Paul are penning the project with Citizen Media's Wesley and Bob Levy, Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Brian Morewitz as well as My So-Called Company's Emily Cummins also executive producing for Universal Television. CONNERS, THE (ABC) - Co-stars Sara Gilbert, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Lecy Goranson have all closed deals with producer Werner Entertainment to return for a proposed fifth season of the series. (Deadline.com)
DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (The CW) - Executive producer Keto Shimizu likewise confirmed on social media The CW has axed the series after seven seasons. (@ketomizu)
EQUALIZER, THE (CBS) - Executive producer Joseph C. Wilson and "The Chi" alumnus Adam Glass have been named showrunners of the expected third season of the series. They'll take over from Andrew W. Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller. "We are incredibly proud of the work we did to bring The Equalizer to audiences," Marlowe and Miller said in a statement to the publication. "It's been an honor and privilege to work with one of the most talented casts and crews in the business. Now, in the spirit of The Equalizer, it's time to raise up other important voices who we know will carry on the heart and soul of this show." (Deadline.com)
FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, THE (Netflix) - Bruce Greenwood has been cast as Roderick Usher in Mike Flanagan's Edgar Allan Poe adaptation. He replaces Frank Langella, who was fired after "an investigation that found Langella had been involved in unacceptable conduct on set." (Deadline.com)
FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE (FX on Hulu) - Josh Radnor and Christian Slater are the latest faces bound for the limited series. Radnor will recur as Adam, "Libby's (Lizzy Caplan) husband"; while Slater is Archer Sylvan, "a Tom Wolfe-esque figure in the book, a journalist who wrote a "legendary" article, titled Decoupling, which details the dissolution of a marriage and is pretty close to the story of Fleishman is in Trouble." FOUND (NBC) - Mark-Paul Gosselaar will star opposite Shanola Hampton in the drama pilot as Sir, "a controversial figure in Gabi's past." (Deadline.com)
LAW & ORDER (NBC) - Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson of "SVU" will drop by the show's May 19 season finale "that involves the shooting of an off-duty police officer who also happens to be a friend of Detective Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan)." (TVLine.com)
NEIGHBORHOOD, THE (CBS) - Patti LaBelle will guest on the show's May 9 episode as Marilyn, "the oft-mentioned but never-before-seen mother of Cedric the Entertainer's Calvin." In the episode, "Marilyn comes to town when Calvin is honored by the Chamber of Commerce for all the ways Calvin's Pit Stop has given back to the community." (TVLine.com)
SLOW HORSES (Apple TV+) - Aimee-Ffion Edwards and Kadiff Kirwan have both been cast in the show's second season. They're believed to be playing two new Slough House recruits: Shirley Dander and Marcus Longridge. (Variety.com)
SON IN LAW, THE (ABC) - Robert Bailey, Jr. has scored a role on the Chris Sullivan/Reema Sampat-led comedy pilot as Benjamin Green: "He's an EMT, a thoroughly nice guy. Benjamin is deeply in love with Jake's daughter Charlie (Evangeline Young), but he craves Jake's approval and understandably is nervous about the way Jake will react to Charlie's pregnancy and her plans to drop the idea of law school. Although Jake isn't happy about the situation, he soon realizes that Benjamin's intentions are honorable and sincere, though he's not happy about becoming a grandpa when he's getting ready to marry the much-younger Asha." SPACE FORCE (Netflix) - The streamer has pulled the plug on the Steve Carell-led comedy series after two seasons. (Deadline.com)
WALKING DEAD DARYL SERIES (AMC) - David Zabel has joined the spin-off series as showrunner. He'll succeed Angela Kang, who is stepping away as day-to-day boss "to concentrate on other projects she has in development with AMC," but will remain an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
WE WERE THE LUCKY ONES (Hulu, New!) - Joey King will topline an eight-part limited series at the streamer based on Georgia Hunter's bestseller about "a Jewish family separated at the start of WWII yet determined to reunite." Writer Erica Lipez and director Thomas Kail are spearheading the project for Old 320 Sycamore and 20th Television with Jennifer Todd likewise executive producing. King will co-executive produce and Kate Sullivan will produce. (Deadline.com)
