ALLY MCBEAL (ABC, New!) - The Alphabet is developing a sequel series to the Emmy-winning legal dramedy starring Calista Flockhart, which "will follow a young Black woman who joins the law firm from the original series (or its current incarnation) straight out of law school. The young woman is believed to be the daughter of Ally McBeal's (Flockhart) D.A. roommate Renée Raddick, who was played by Lisa Nicole Carson on the mothership series." Karin Gist is behind the 20th Television-based project, which has been given creator David E. Kelley's blessing. Flockhart has been approached to reprise her title role and executive produce should it move forward. The Gist of It's Claire Brown will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
AND JUST LIKE THAT... (HBO Max) - After a false start last season, John Corbett is formally set to reprise his "Sex and the City" role of Aidan Shaw during the upcoming second season. (Deadline.com)
AVALON (ABC) - Steven Pasquale will star opposite Neve Campbell in the upcoming drama as Los Angeles County Sheriff's Detective William Claypool: "Intelligent, head strong and good-humored, Claypool is called to Catalina to investigate a terrifying discovery on the island." (Deadline.com)
BIG CIGAR, THE (Apple TV+) - Emmy winner Glynn Turman is the latest addition to the André Holland-led drama as "Huey's ailing father, Walter - a man he reveres, who worked multiple jobs over the course of his life to support his family." (Deadline.com)
BLACK MIRROR (Netflix) - Salma Hayek Pinault and Annie Murphy are in talks to join the anthology's latest season. (Variety.com)
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (UPN) - Monica Owusu-Breen's proposed reboot of the beloved teen drama is on pause. The project, which has been in development since 2018, has yet to formally land at a network. (TVLine.com)
CRIMINAL NATURE (ABC) - The network has passed on the off-cycle drama pilot, which was billed as "a soapy procedural set in the stunning world of America's great outdoors." (Deadline.com)
SESAME STREET (HBO Max) - The streamer has quietly pulled about 200 older episodes of the classic kids show. "'Sesame Street' is and has always been an important part of television culture and a crown jewel of our preschool offering," an HBO Max spokesperson said in a statement. "We are committed to continuing to bring 'Sesame Street' into families' homes," with "Season 53 premiering this fall and the 400-plus episodes of the most recent and past seasons that remain on Cartoonito on HBO Max."
