CBS PLACES FIRST IN VIEWERS FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE WEEK

CBS Is the Only Network To Post Increases Versus the Same Week Last Year

CBS Wins 6 Nights in Viewers and Has 3 of the Week's Top 5 Programs

"Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" Is Saturday's No. 1 Broadcast with a +14% Gain in Viewers Versus Last Year

"NCIS" Is the No. 1 Scripted Program in Viewers; "Two and a Half Men" Is Tops in Demos

CBS placed first in viewers for the third consecutive week and adults 25-54 in an atypical week that included traditionally low holiday viewing levels, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending July 5, week 41 of the 2008-2009 television year.

CBS placed first in viewers on six nights and had three of the top five and seven of the Top 10 programs. NCIS was the top scripted program in viewers while TWO AND A HALF MEN was the week's top scripted series in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

For the week in viewers: CBS (6.89m), NBC (5.38m), FOX (4.24m) and ABC (3.72m). Summer-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (7.18m), ahead of NBC (5.44m), ABC (5.08m) and FOX (5.00m).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (2.0/06) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (1.4/05, with NBC and -0.1 behind FOX). Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +7% in households, +10% in viewers, +11% in adults 25-54 and even in adults 18-49. CBS was the only one of the broadcast networks up or even in these measures.

For the week in households: CBS (4.5/09), NBC (3.5/07), FOX (2.6/05) and ABC (2.4/05). Summer-to-date, CBS is first (4.7/09), ahead of NBC (3.5/06), ABC (3.2/06) and FOX (3.1/06).

CBS Weekly Highlights:

? TWO AND A HALF MEN (R) won its time slot in households (5.9/10), viewers (9.29m), adults 25-54 (3.6/10) and second in adults 18-49 (2.8/08, -0.1 behind ABC). TWO AND A HALF MEN was the week's #1 scripted program in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

? NCIS (R) was first in households (6.8/12), viewers (10.83m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (2.8/09, with NBC) and second in adults 18-49 (2.0/07). NCIS was the top scripted program of the week in viewers.

? THE MENTALIST TUESDAY (R) (9:00-10:01PM) was second in households (6.7/11), viewers (10.55m), adults 25-54 (2.7/07) and adults 18-49 (1.9/06) against first-run programming.

? 48 HOURS MYSTERY TUESDAY SPECIAL "Michael Jackson: Picking Up the Pieces won its 10PM time slot in households (5.4/10), viewers (8.02m), adults 25-54 (2.8/08) and adults 18-49 (2.0/06). This is 48 HOURS MYSTERY TUESDAY's best delivery this summer in adults 25-54, matches the best in adults 18-49 performance and second best deliveries in both households and viewers.

? CSI: NY (R) was first in households (5.5/10), viewers (8.20m), adults 25-54 (2.5/07) and adults 18-49 (1.7/05), beating NBC and ABC's first-run programming.

? THE MENTALIST (R) was first in households (6.5/12), viewers (9.79m), adults 25-54 (2.7/08) and adults 18-49 (1.9/06). THE MENTALIST was the night's #1 program in households and viewers and tied for #1 in adults 25-54 (with FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" first-run broadcast).

? BOSTON POPS FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR (S) won its time slot in households (4.3/10), viewers (6.78m), adults 25-54 (1.4/06) and was second in adults 18-49 (0.9/04, -0.1 with NBC). Compared to last year's event (on Friday, July 4, 2008), CBS was up +13% in households (from 3.8/09) and added +840,000 viewers (from 5.94m, +14%). BOSTON POPS FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR was the night's #1 program in households, viewers and adults 25-54.
