UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - July 7, 2009 � NBC's smash hit series "America's Got Talent" is heating up the summer once again with the hottest acts from across the country vying for a $1 million top prize. The series has been a ratings blockbuster with over 40 million people tuning into all or some of the hit series. It's the #1 series of the summer in total viewers and 18-49 and the #1 show site on NBC.com delivering 371,000 unique users with 2.2 million page views. In addition, the video of breakout act, country singer Kevin Skinner, has reached close to 200,000 views on NBC.com in just under a week.

"America's Got Talent" is the #1 series of the summer in total viewers and in adults 18-49 summer-to-date on the broadcast networks. Last week, "AGT" once again demonstrated its broad appeal, as last Tuesday and Wednesday editions were the #1 and #2-ranked primetime programs of the week respectively in total viewers, adults 25-54 and teens 12-17. In adults 18-49, Tuesday's "Talent" was #1 for the week and the Wednesday edition was #3.

The series from Simon Cowell's SYCO TV and FremantleMedia continues its nationwide search Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 p.m. with tonight's episode (July 7) featuring auditions in Los Angeles and Wednesday's episode (July 8) featuring auditions in Houston. The audition episodes continue through July with the "Vegas Verdicts" episodes airing July 28 and 29, when the Top 40 acts will be revealed.

The live performance shows will begin on Tuesday, August 4.

"America's Got Talent" has brought the variety format back to the forefront of American culture by showcasing performers from across the country. The series is a true celebration of the American spirit featuring a colorful array of hopeful stars, including singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians and ventriloquists, all vying for their chance to strut and perform on stage hoping to win America's hearts -- and the $1 million prize.

Third-season winner Neal E. Boyd, an insurance salesman with dreams of becoming a professional opera singer, had his life changed forever last August when he was crowned the champion. Not only did he win the $1 million grand prize, but he also received the opportunity to perform at the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas strip. His debut CD was released June 23.

Second-season winner, Terry Fator, a ventriloquist from Dallas, Texas, achieved his lifelong dream when he signed a five-year $100 million deal to headline at the Mirage in Las Vegas. He currently performs five nights a week in The Terry Fator Theatre.
