TNT's 2011-12 NBA Regular-Season Covers Posts Significant Triple-Digit Gains Over Last Season

NBA on TNT

Through the first seven games of TNT's 2011-12 NBA regular-season schedule, the network continues to post significant triple-digit gains over last season. To date, the network is averaging 3,682,000 total viewers (+ 137%) and a 2.3 U.S. household rating (+130%).

On Thursday night, the NBA on TNT double-header featuring the Miami Heat @ Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers @ Portland Trail Blazers delivered 2,899,000 total viewers and a 1.9 U.S. household rating.

NBA TV

Through the first 16 games of the network's 2011-12 regular-season schedule, NBA TV is experiencing significant triple-digit increases compared to last season. The network is averaging 356,000 total viewers (+82%) and 271,000 households (+81%).

NBA TV's popular Fan Night, featuring the Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers, made its season debut on Tuesday (1/3/12). The game delivered 481,000 total viewers and 391,000 households, representing 60% and 78% growth, respectively, compared to the same time period last year.

Adult Swim

Adult Swim programming - including Family Guy and Robot Chicken - accounted for 10 of the top 50 telecasts for the week on basic cable among adults 18-34, and 14 of the top 50 among men 18-34.

A brand new episode of Adult Swim's Emmy-winning Robot Chicken (Sunday, 11:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-34, adults 18-49, men 18-34 and men 18-49. Average delivery of key young adult demos grew by double digits vs. the same time period last year - adults 18-34 delivery (875,000) increased by 67%, adults 18-49 (1,196,000) by 53%, adults 18-24 (403,000) by 51%, men 18-34 (563,000) by 89%, men 18-49 (755,000) by 62% and men 18-24 (273,000) by 84%.

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network's early evening prime time (M-Su, 7-9 p.m.) posted solid gains across all key kid demos - vs. the same time period last year, average kids 6-11 delivery (544,000) increased by 3%, kids 2-11 (804,000) also by 3%, and kids 9-14 (438,000) by 16%. In Total Day, average kids delivery also grew across the board - kids 6-11 (327,000) grew by 9%, kids 2-11 (502,000) by 4% and kids 9-14 (271,000) by 28%.

Monday night comedies (7-9 p.m.) propelled Cartoon Network to the #1 destination on all broadcast & cable television among boys 6-11. Average delivery of kids 6-11 (723,000) improved by 16%, kids 9-14 (541,000) also by 16% and boys 6-11 (516,000) by 2%. Among the night's original programming, Adventure Time (7:30 p.m.) ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 9-14 and #1 in its time period among boys 6-11 & 9-14, earning double-digit yearly gains across kids and boys 6-11 & 9-14. Similarly, Regular Show (8 p.m.) ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11.

Tuesday night (7-9 p.m.) also scored as the #1 destination on all television among boys 2-11, earning significant delivery gains across all kid demos vs. the same time period last year. Average kids 6-11 delivery (627,000) increased by 7%, kids 2-11 (983,000) by 17% and kids 9-14 (518,000) by 8%. Both The Amazing World of Gumball (7:30 p.m.) and The Looney Tunes Show (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in their respective time periods among boys 2-11.

Cartoon Network's presentation of Ninjago: Master of Spinjitzu (Wednesday, 8 p.m.) ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11 and 2-11. Compared to the same time period last year, the animated action-adventure series charted considerable double-digit delivery gains across all kids and boys - average kids 6-11 delivery (812,000) grew by 57%, kids 2-11 (1,145,000) by 74%, kids 9-14 (504,000) by 47%, boys 6-11 (626,000) by 55%, boys 2-11 (822,000) by 64% and boys 9-14 (408,000) by 65%.

truTV

truTV is on a roll as its lineup of original series lifted the network to rank among basic cable's Top 10 entertainment networks with adults 18-49 in primetime. truTV also ranked among basic cable's Top 10 networks with men 18-49 and scored double-digit growth among key adult and male demos compared to the prior week.

Lizard Lick Towing got the week off to a terrific start with a series-best 2.3 million viewers Monday at 10 p.m. The episode ranks as truTV's most-watched telecast ever with adults 18-34 (875,000), shattering the record set by Operation Repo in 2009. The show also scored an extraordinary 1.5 million adults 18-49 and 758,000 men 18-49, the series' best performance ever. Lizard Lick Towing ranked as ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in its timeslot with viewers and all key demos.

truTV's hit show Hardcore Pawn drew 2.7 million viewers and set a new record as truTV's most-watched series telecast ever among adults 18-49 (1.6 million), surpassing the mark the show set just a week ago. The show also scored the biggest audience of men 18-49 (896,000) in truTV history. Hardcore Pawn ranked among ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in the Tuesday 9 p.m. timeslot with viewers and key demos.

truTV's Black Gold is enjoying its best season ever, last week delivering 1.4 million viewers and ranking among ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in its Wednesday 10 p.m. timeslot with men 18-49.

Thursday night at 10 p.m., truTV's new hit Impractical Jokers delivered a solid 1.5 million viewers and grew its delivery of adults 18-49 by 6% over the prior week. The show ranked among basic cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in the timeslot with key male demos.

truTV also enjoyed exceptional performances from Storage Hunters, which drew 2 million viewers Tuesday at 9:30 and garnered its biggest ever deliveries of adults 18-34 and men 18-34, and Full Throttle Saloon, which scored 1.8 million viewers Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.

TBS

For the seventh consecutive week, TBS ranked as basic cable's #1 entertainment network with adults 18-34 in primetime. TBS also ranked as the top entertainment network with adults 18-49 in primetime for the second straight week. The network's success last week was driven by another set of spectacular performances by The Big Bang Theory, as well as strong movie ratings.

The Big Bang Theory on TBS once again dominated basic cable's comedy charts, scoring all Top 9 comedy telecasts for the week among adults 18-49. The show also scored four of the Top 10 comedy spots among adults 18-34. Eight of TBS's telecasts of The Big Bang Theory last week delivered 3 million viewers or more, led by the Tuesday 9 p.m. episode with more than 3.5 million viewers.

On the movie front, TBS claimed three of basic cable's Top 5 movie telecasts for the week among adults 18-34, with the Sunday 8 p.m. presentation of Hitch topping the list, followed by the Sunday noon telecast of Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail in second place.

CONAN started the year off with remarkable audience growth compared to December. Last week, the show averaged 1.1 million viewers in Live + Same Day, up 27% over December premieres. The show also scored 399,000 adults 18-34 (+9%) and 715,000 adults 18-49 (+24%). Thursday's episode, featuring guest Johnny Galecki from The Big Bang Theory, was especially strong, drawing 1.4 million viewers; 492,000 adults 18-34; and 1 million adults 18-49.

TNT

TNT's caper series Leverage brought in more than 2.3 million viewers in Live + Same Day, up a remarkable 2% over the prior week. The episode saw tremendous growth among key adult demos, with its delivery of 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 1.2 million adults 25-54 both up 15%. In time-shifted viewing, Leverage's Christmas Day episode grew to a final total of 3.4 million viewers in Live + 7, with 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 1.6 million adults 25-54.

TNT's blockbuster dramas The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles continue to enjoy strong growth in time-shifted viewing. The Closer's Dec. 19 episode scored a final tally of 7.6 million viewers and 2.5 million adults 25-54 in Live + 7, while the Dec. 19 episode of Rizzoli & Isles delivered 7.9 million viewers and 2.7 million adults 25-54.
