FOX Weekly Ratings - "American Idol" Sees Ratings Gains as Week's #1 TV Show

AMERICAN IDOL SEES RATINGS GAINS AS WEEK'S #1 TV SHOW

AMERICAN IDOL Wednesday beat the competition once again as last week's highest-rated entertainment program, and outperformed NBC's "The Voice" for the third week in a row. Together with strong performances by NEW GIRL, TOUCH, and FRINGE, AMERICAN IDOL helped FOX hold steady week-over-week in the core adult demo despite increased competition from sports and specials. In addition, FOX won the week among Teens.

Season to date, FOX continues to rank as the No. 1 network among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens. Excluding sports, this week FOX had:

· 5 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-49: AMERICAN IDOL-Wed (No. 1), AMERICAN IDOL-Thurs (No. 4), TOUCH (No. 13), NEW GIRL (No. 16) and FAMILY GUY (No. 18).

· 8 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-34: AMERICAN IDOL-Wed (No. 2), FAMILY GUY (No. 4), NEW GIRL (No. 5), AMERICAN IDOL-Thurs (No. 6), AMERICAN DAD (No. 7), THE SIMPSONS (No. 10 tie), BOB'S BURGERS (No. 10 tie) and TOUCH (No. 14).

At 8pm RAISING HOPE posted a 1.5/5, ranking No. 2 in its half hour among Adults 18-34 and Teens.

An encore RAISING HOPE at 8:30pm delivered 1.3/4 and ranked No. 2 in its half hour among Adults 18-34 (tie).

At 9pm NEW GIRL posted a 2.6/7 and was the highest rated program of the night among Adults 18-34.

BREAKING IN closed the night with a 1.4/4, up +8% from last week in Adults 18-49 and up +27% among Adults 18-34 (1.4 vs. 1.1).

WEDNESDAY

8:00-10:00 AMERICAN IDOL: (Adults 18-49: 5.3/15, 17.9 Mil Total Viewers)

AMERICAN IDOL gave FOX a nightly win among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens. FOX beat the combined 4-net competition for the night by +4% in the core adult demo (5.3 vs. 5.1 for ABC/CBS/NBC/CW) and out-rated the next highest rated competitor by +152% in Adults 18-49 (5.3 vs. 2.1 for CBS). In Total Viewers FOX outperformed the combined 4-net competition by +5% (17.9 vs. 17.1 Mil.), and beat its nearest competitor for the night by +113% (17.9 vs. 8.4 for CBS).

FOX has now won 11 Wednesdays in a row in Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers.

The 'Top 9 Finalists Perform' telecast of AMERICAN IDOL delivered a 5.3/15, up +4% from the previous Wednesday in Adults 18-49. In Total Viewers AMERICAN IDOL was up +4% from the previous week (17.9 vs. 17.2 Mil.)

AMERICAN IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens

AMERICAN IDOL has outperformed Monday's telecast of The Voice for three weeks in a row among Adults 18-49 (+18%, 5.3 vs. 4.5) and in Total Viewers (+49%, 17.9 vs. 12.0 Mil.)

THURSDAY

8:00-9:01 AMERICAN IDOL: (Adults 18-49: 4.4/13, 15.9 Mil Total Viewers)

9:01-10:01 TOUCH: (Adults 18-49: 2.7/7, 8.9 Mil Total Viewers)

With AMERICAN IDOL and TOUCH, FOX won Thursday night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens. FOX beat its nearest competitor for the night by +9% in Adults 18-49 (3.6 vs. 3.3 for CBS) and +29% in Adults 18-34 (2.2 vs. 1.7 for CBS).

FOX has now ranked No. 1 for 11 Thursdays in a row in Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

The AMERICAN IDOL Top 9 Results show posted a 4.4/13, up +5% from the previous Thursday. AMERICAN IDOL was also up +2% in Total Viewers (15.9 vs. 15.6 Mil.) week over week.

AMERICAN IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in Total Viewers, Women 18-49 and Teens and outperformed the #2 program of the night in Total Viewers by +9% (15.9 vs. 14.6 Mil for Person of Interest).

In addition, AMERICAN IDOL won its 8pm hour in Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens and Total Viewers and outperformed its nearest competitors in the hour by +19% in Adults 18-49 (4.4 vs. 3.7 for Big Bang Theory/Rules of Engagement) and +41% in Total Viewers (15.9 vs. 11.3 Mil for Big Bang Theory/Rules of Engagement.)

At 9pm, TOUCH posted a 2.7/7 in Adults 18-49 and won the 9pm hour in Adults 18-34 and Teens. Compared to FOX's prior season average in the Thu 9-10p time slot with regular originals, TOUCH so far is up +25% in Adults 18-49 (3.0 vs. 2.4) and +33% in Total Viewers (10.4 vs. 7.8 Mil.)
