With the Final Month of Summer Now Under Way, TNT's Dramas Continue to Top the Basic Cable Charts

With the final month of summer now under way, TNT's dramas continue to top the basic cable charts:

- Basic cable's #1 program for the week among total viewers: Rizzoli & Isles

- Basic cable's Top 3 dramas for the week among total viewers: Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes, Falling Skies

- Basic cable's Top 3 dramas for the week with adults 25-54: Falling Skies, Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes

Last Tuesday's episode of TNT's top-rated Rizzoli & Isles has grown to 7.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, edging out the prior week's audience. The episode has also garnered 2.4 million adults 25-54 and more than 2.0 million adults 18-49, with the latter demo growing +6%. Perception followed with more than 5.0 million in Live + 3 delivery (+3% vs. the prior week's episode). The episode also scored 1.8 million adults 25-54 and 1.5 million adults 18-49, growing +5% in the latter demo.

Last week's episode of Major Crimes has so far garnered more than 6.5 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, including 2.0 million adults 25-54 and 1.5 million adults 18-49. It was followed by King & Maxwell, basic cable's #1 new series for the summer-to-date, which scored 4.5 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery. Among key demos, King & Maxwell drew 1.3 million adults 25-54 and 1.0 million adults 18-49, growing +7% in the latter category.

Sunday's season finale of Falling Skies scored double-digit growth over the prior week. The sci-fi drama grabbed 3.7 million viewers in Live + Same Day (+22%), with 1.9 million adults 25-54 (+33%) and 1.6 million adults 18-49 (+22%). For the season, Falling Skies averaged more than 3.5 million viewers in Live + Same Day, including 1.8 million adults 25-54 and 1.5 million adults 18-49. Those figures have so far grown to 5.6 million viewers in Live + 7, with 2.9 million adults 25-54 and 2.6 million adults 18-49.

Wednesday's episode of Franklin & Bash has scored season-high deliveries, with 3.4 million viewers in Live + 3 (+5% vs. the prior week), 1.5 million adults 25-54 (+12%) and 1.4 million adults 18-49 (+15%).

On the time-shifted viewing front, TNT's July 15 episode of Major Crimes topped out at 6.9 million viewers and 2.0 million adults 25-54 in Live + 7 delivery. The July 16 episode of Rizzoli & Isles finished with 7.7 million viewers and 2.6 million adults 25-54 in Live + 7. The July 17 episode of Franklin & Bash garnered 3.3 million viewers (+2% vs. the previous episode) and 1.4 million adults 25-54 (+6%) in Live + 7. And the July 21 episode of Falling Skies scored a final tally of 5.9 million viewers (+13% vs. the previous episode) and 3.1 million adults 25-54 (+16%) in Live + 7.

Adult Swim

As it did throughout June & July, Adult Swim ranked #1 in Primetime (broadcast definition) among basic cable networks for delivery of adults 18-34. Compared to the same week in 2012, Primetime delivery increased by double-digits across the board - adults 18-24 by 38%, adults 18-34 by 36%, adults 18-49 by 36%, men 18-24 by 48%, men 18-34 by 42% and men 18-49 by 41%.

Continuing its six-month trend across the first week of August 2013, Adult Swim's Total Day Delivery ranked #1 among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 on basic cable this week. Compared to the same week in 2012, Total Day Delivery increased across all targeted demos by double digits - adults 18-24 by 30%, adults 18-34 by 29%, adults 18-49 by 31%, men 18-24 by 22%, men 18-34 by 23% and men 18-49 by 27%.

Thursday's highly anticipated premiere episode of Adult Swim's original live-action series, Childrens Hospital (12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-34/18-49 and all targeted male demos, while the new episode premiere of NTSF:SD:SUV:: ranked #1 in its time period among all male demos. Both premieres increased by triple-digits across the board vs. the same time period last year.

The Sunday episode premiere of the animated series, Bob's Burgers (11 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among men 18-24, while the Monday premiere (10 p.m.) increased delivery among all men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 vs. the same time period last year.

Saturday's new episode of Bleach (12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot with all key adults and men, while Naruto (12:30 a.m.) and One Piece (1 a.m.) each ranked #1 in their respective timeslots among adults 18-34 and all targeted men. Soul Eater (1:30 a.m.) also ranked #1 among targeted men demos. All TOONAMI premiere episodes increased by mostly double and triple-digits across the board vs. the same time period last year.

Adult Swim programming accounted for 29 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults 18-34, and 34 of the top 50 telecasts with men 18-34, both more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network scored as the #1 television network among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 on Monday and Wednesday night (7-9 p.m.), and #1 among boys 2-11 & 6-11 on Tuesday Night.

The new episode premiere of Adventure Time (Monday, 7:30 p.m.) was the #1 telecast for the week among boys 9-14, #1 for the day among boys 6-11/9-14, and #1 in its time period among kids 9-14 and all key boys. The premiere episode of Regular Show (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among kids 6-11 & 9-14 and all targeted boy demos.

Original animated series Teen Titans GO! (Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.) ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 6-11, and #1 in its timeslot among all boy demos. Johnny Test (7 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11, while The Looney Tunes Show episode premiere (8 p.m.) increased delivery among kids 2-11 & 6-11 vs. the same time last year.

A new episode of The Amazing World of Gumball (Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period all boy demos, while Annoying Orange (7 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11 & 9-14 and Legends of Chima (8 p.m.) ranked #1 among boys 2-11 & 6-11.

Pokémon BW: Adventures in Unova (Saturday, 8:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among kids 9-14 and boys 6-11 & 9-14, and increased delivery among most targeted demos vs. the same time period last year. The new episode of Beware the Batman (Saturday, 10 a.m.) grew among kids 9-14 and boys 2-11 & 9-14 vs. the same time period last year.

TBS

Thursday night's episode of the hit TBS comedy Sullivan & Son scored its best Live + 3 deliveries so far this season, with 2.7 million viewers (+24% vs. the prior week). In key demos, Thursday's episode drew 616,000 adults 18-34 (+14% vs. the prior week) and a season-high 1.4 million adults 18-49 (+27%).

TBS's new hidden-camera series Deal With It continued to build, posting 2.2 million viewers in Live + 3 to mark its best telecast so far this season (+3% vs. the prior week). In the demos, Deal With It scored 550,000 adults 18-34 in Live + 3 and a season-best 1.3 million adults 18-49 (+10%).

For the week, TBS claimed 18 of basic cable's Top 20 primetime sitcom telecasts among total viewers, along with 19 of the Top 20 sitcom telecasts with adults 18-49 and 17 of the Top 20 with adults 18-34.

truTV

truTV's hidden-camera hit Impractical Jokers (Thursday at 10 p.m.) returned with all-new episodes last week, garnering more than 1.6 million viewers. That's a +13% boost over the show's first-season average. The latest episode, which ranked one of ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with key adult and male demos, drew 1 million adults 18-49 (+13% vs. season 1 average) and 521,000 men 18-49. In addition, the episode's median age was a year younger than the season 1 average, dropping to the remarkable figure of 33.

truTV's hit series Lizard Lick Towing (Monday at 10 p.m.) hitched up 2.1 million viewers last week, including 1 million adults 18-49 and 531,000 men 18-49. It ranked among basic cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with men 18-49 and grew its delivery of men 18-34 by +16% over the prior week's episode.

Last week, truTV's rock-steady hit Hardcore Pawn (Tuesday at 9 p.m.) brought in 1.9 million total viewers, with 709,000 adults 18-49 and 398,000 men 18-49, ranking among basic cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with the latter demo.
