"48 HOURS: THE SWEETHEART MURDERS" IS SATURDAY'S #1 NON-SPORTS PROGRAM WITH VIEWERS

"48 HOURS" POSTS YEAR-TO-YEAR GAINS IN ADULTS 25-54 (+15%) - THE DEMOGRAPHIC THAT MATTERS MOST TO THOSE WHO ADVERTISE IN NEWS - AS WELL AS ADULTS 18-49 (+11%) VIEWERS (+26%) AND HOUSEHOLDS (+24%)

The 2013-14 season premiere 48 HOURS was Saturday's #1 non-sports program with viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for September 28, 2013.

At 10:00 PM, 48 HOURS: "The Sweetheart Murders" posted a 4.2/08 with 6.09m viewers, a 1.5/04 in adults 25-54 and a 1.0/03 with adults 18-49.

Compared to the season premiere last season (on September 29, 2012), 48 HOURS was up +15% in adults 25-54 (from 1.3/04) - the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news - added +1.25m viewers (from 4.84m +26%), was up +11% in adults 18-49 (from 0.9/03), and was up +24% in households (from 3.4/06).

Saturday's broadcast featured an investigation into the 1980 murders of college coeds Sabrina Gonsalves and John Riggins and the 32 year quest to bring their killer to justice. The 48 HOURS team and Correspondent Troy Roberts spent eight years reporting on the case, which was set in Davis, Calif. It was a case that included four people being arrested and nearly tried for killing the teens. The case took a significant turn in 2002 when crime scene evidence tested using scientific tools not available in 1980 linked the murders to another man. It then took another decade for the killer to be convicted.

48 HOURS: "The Sweetheart Murders" is produced by Clare Friedland. Atticus Brady is the producer-editor. Gary Winter and Diana Modica are the editors. Judy Tygard is the senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
