"The Cat" -- Joan adopts a feral cat, per God's request, and Helen reluctantly offers to house her cantankerous and fiercely independent aunt who is recuperating from a disabling stroke, on JOAN OF ARCADIA, Friday, Oct. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Steve Gomer directed the episode that was written by David Grae.
Annie Potts ("Designing Women," "Love & War," both on the Network) joins the series in a recurring role. Academy Award and multiple Emmy Award winner Cloris Leachman (The Last Picture Show," "Mary Tyler Moore") guest stars as Aunt Olive.
Though Helen and the rest of the Girardis were counting the minutes to the end of the typically disruptive visit of her critical and headstrong Aunt Olive, Helen feels compelled to have her remain there after Olive suffers a stroke that temporarily confines her to a wheelchair. Meanwhile, despite being an ardent cat hater, Joan makes a whole-hearted attempt to care for and domesticate the vicious "Larry." Also, Will butts heads with the head of internal affairs, Lt. Preston (Potts), who is investigating the potential leak within the precinct.
