ALYSON HANNIGAN, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS, JOSH RADNOR, COBIE SMULDERS AND JASON SEGEL STAR IN "HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER," A NEW COMEDY PREMIERING ON MONDAY, SEPT. 19 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

"Pilot" -- Alyson Hannigan ("American Pie"), Neil Patrick Harris ("Doogie Howser, M.D."), Josh Radnor ("The Court"), Cobie Smulders ("Veritas: The Quest") and Jason Segel ("Freaks and Geeks") star in HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, a new comedy premiering on Monday, Sept. 19 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The episode was directed by Pamela Fryman from a script by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, two of the series' executive producers.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is a comedy about Ted (Radnor) and how he fell in love. It all started when Ted's best friend, Marshall (Segel), drops the bombshell that he's going to propose to his long-time girlfriend, Lily (Hannigan), a kindergarten teacher. At that moment, Ted realizes that he had better get a move on if he hopes to find true love, too. Helping him in his quest is Barney (Harris), a friend with endless, sometimes outrageous, opinions, a penchant for suits and a fool-proof way to meet women. When Ted meets Robin (Smulders), he's sure it's love at first sight, but destiny may have something else in store. With voice-over by Bob Saget ("Full House"), the show is told through flashbacks from the future.

In the premiere episode, Ted meets Robin in a neighborhood bar, immediately becomes smitten and even scores a first date. But, when Robin must leave in the middle of the date, Ted can hardly wait to see her again, and his eagerness threatens to scare her away. Ted realizes Robin may not be as easy to catch as he had hoped, and it becomes apparent that he may have to meet a few more women before he finds his true love.

Alyson Hannigan is best known to television audiences for her role as "Willow" in the series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," for which she won a Teen Choice Award and a Saturn Award. Her additional television credits include "Touched By An Angel," on the Network, "Veronica Mars," "King of the Hill," "That '70s Show," "Angel: The Series," "Picket Fences," also on the Network, and "Roseanne." Her feature film credits include "American Pie," "American Pie 2," for which she won a Teen Choice Award, "American Wedding," "Beyond the City Limits," "Dead Man on Campus" and "My Stepmother is An Alien."

Neil Patrick Harris is best known for his Golden Globe-nominated role as "Doogie Howser, M.D." His additional television credits include the series "Stark Raving Mad," the CBS mini-series "Joan of Arc," and an upcoming holiday movie, "The Christmas Blessing," also on the Network, "Will & Grace," "Boomtown," and CBS's "Numb3rs." His feature film credits include "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle," "Undercover Brother," "Starship Troopers," "The Next Big Thing" and "Clara's Heart," for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. He recently starred in the London musical production of Jonathan Larson's "Tick, Tick�Boom," and previously starred in Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical "Assassins," "Cabaret" and "Proof." His additional theater credits include the Los Angeles production of "Rent" and "Romeo & Juliet" at San Diego's Old Globe Theater.

Josh Radnor's television credits include "The Court," "Judging Amy" and "Welcome to NY," both on the CBS Television Network, "Miss Match," "ER," "Six Feet Under" and "Law & Order." Radnor appeared on Broadway in "The Graduate" opposite Kathleen Turner. Off-Broadway he has appeared at the Vineyard Theater, Manhattan Theater Club and the Blue Light Theater Company. He appeared in the feature film "Not Another Teen Movie."

Cobie Smulders' television credits include her lead role on "Veritas," and a recurring role on "The L Word." Her additional television credits include "Andromeda," "Smallville," "Tru Calling," "Jeremiah" and "Special Unit 2." Smulders' theater credits include "Singing In The Rain," "Grease" and "Women and Wallace." She recently wrapped production on the feature film "The Long Weekend."

Jason Segel is best known to television audiences for his role as "Nick Andopolis" in the critically acclaimed series "Freaks and Geeks." His additional television credits include recurring roles in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," on the CBS Television Network, and "Undeclared." Among Segel's feature film credits are "Pick of Destiny," an independent feature opposite Jack Black, "Good Humor Man," "SLC Punk!," "New Jersey Turnpikes" and "Slackers."
