John Quiqones' Unprecedented Report: Inside a Polygamous Family

One husband with two happy wives and nine children might sound abnormal to most people, but in Centennial Park, Arizona, the polygamist lifestyle is commonly practiced in the 1,200 person community. John Quiqones takes viewers inside the rare world of an isolated polygamous community to report on the life of a young, fast-growing family there -- the Hammons. Quiqones' unprecedented report is the second installment of "Primetime: The Outsiders," the limited series examining people who live by their own rules and in their own worlds - worlds that the average person may find unimaginable. "Primetime: The Outsiders" airs TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) and will continue to air Tuesday nights through March20.

"Primetime" cameras provide rare access inside the Hammon home to witness their daily life, from the ordinary to what many may see as outrageous. The Hammons are devout fundamentalist Mormons. At 32, Ariel Hammon has a 30-year-old wife, Helen, and seven children. He also has a second wife, 20-year-old Lisa, with whom he has two children. The wives, who take turns sleeping with their husband, say their life is wonderful. Lisa counts her blessings that Helen, who is older and more experienced, can help with her six-week-old baby.

Despite risking legal prosecution, the family allows "Primetime" in their home to explain their unconventional lifestyle, addressing such questions as -- Why do they practice polygamy? How does a family of 12 manage in a tiny 1400-square-foot house? How do they deal with envy and jealousy among the adults? And perhaps the most intriguing question, why is it working for them?

The program examines the roots of polygamy as well. Ariel explains to Quiqones what they believe about Jesus that puts their faith at odds with mainstream America. And "Primetime" uncovers why racism and sexism may exist at the core of polygamous faith.
