Prime time Special Features SNL's Greatest Short Films Hosted By Cast Member Andy Samberg

NEW YORK - May 8, 2009 - For the first time in the show's history, "Saturday Night Live" has put together its greatest short films from the past 34 years in a new prime time special, "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE JUST SHORTS," hosted by Andy Samberg. The special will air Sunday, May 17 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on NBC.

Host Andy Samberg, in his fourth season on "Saturday Night Live," along with "SNL" writers Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, are best known for the innovative series of "SNL Digital Shorts" and have created some of the show's most memorable sketches. "It's great to be able to show all these great ones from the past to a generation that is not familiar with them," Samberg said. "For me to do hosting segments and be able to (introduce) 'Synchronized Swimmers,' this is not just something that influenced me heavily but influenced everybody in comedy."

This historic special features many of SNL's most celebrated short films over the past 34 seasons, including fan favorites: "Synchronized Swimmers," directed by Christopher Guest and featuring Martin Short; "TV Funhouse," written by Robert Smigel; and the 2007 Emmy Award-winning digital short "D**k in a Box," with pop sensation Justin Timberlake. Also included are "Lazy Sunday," "Japanese Office," "United Way" with football star Peyton Manning, "MacGruber," "Star Wars Screen Tests," "Deep Thoughts" by Jack Handey, "Mr. Bill" and much more.

"Saturday Night Live" is from SNL Studios in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels. Steve Higgins and Marci Klein are producers. Ken Aymong is supervising producer.
