NEW YORK, August 6, 2009 -- Comedic icon and COMEDY CENTRAL Roastee Joan Rivers kept a stiff upper lip and then unleashed an uproarious and unforgettable rebuttal at the "COMEDY CENTRAL Roast Of Joan Rivers." Emmy Award-winning and Grammy Award-nominated comedienne Kathy Griffin served as Roast Master for the show which taped at CBS Studios' Radford on Sunday, July 26 in Los Angeles. The "COMEDY CENTRAL Roast Of Joan Rivers" premieres on Sunday, August 9 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Also debuting during Sunday night's premiere will be comedycentral.com's first-ever live "Twoast," which invites all users to go to comedycentral.com/roast for a live Twitter/Twoast.
Roast Master Kathy Griffin kicked off the festivities and spared no one. Griffin came out swinging but Rivers had the last slap, literally hitting the Roast Master before delivering one of the most memorable and hysterical rebuttals of all time. Roasters included Brad Garrett, Carl Reiner, Gilbert Gottfried, Greg Giraldo, Jeffrey Ross, Mario Cantone, Robin Quivers, Tom Arnold and Whitney Cummings with a special Roast from Melissa Rivers.
While watching the comedic icon Rivers being pummeled with a slew of butchering barbs and hysterical one-liners, comedycentral.com and CCInsder.com invites all fans to live Twoast. Beginning on Sunday, August 9 at 9:00 p.m., log on to comedycental.com/roast to get information on how to join in the live Twitter/Twoast during the premiere of "COMEDY CENTRAL's Roast Of Joan Rivers." Everything Rivers will be featured including exclusive uncensored Roast clips, red carpet videos from the event as well as the Roast After-Party. In addition, users can play the Zombie Paparazzi game, where players help Rivers get to the Roast on time by bashing the undead with River's microphone before the zombies snag a photo.
