UNPRECEDENTED ACCESS INSIDE AN INTERROGATION ROOM -
"PRIMETIME: CRIME" CAMERAS CAPTURE THE ULTIMATE MIND GAME INTERPLAY
BETWEEN A POLICE INTERROGATOR AND A CRIMINAL SUSPECT
Plus: The Search for a Serial Rapist Leads Cops to One of Their Own
"Primetime: Crime" Airs Tuesday, August 31 on ABC
It's a small, private, soundproofed room. The walls are stripped of any decoration. Two chairs face each other. This is the field of play in the ultimate mind game - the interplay between a criminal suspect and police interrogator. With unprecedented access to the workings of the Houston Homicide Division, "Primetime: Crime" gets a rare glimpse into the tactics and skills investigators use to get people to talk. Chris Cuomo reports on a handful of murder investigations in which one of the department's most respected veteran interrogators was able to extract confessions from resistant suspects and solve the crimes... and it's all caught on tape. Some of their methods are controversial. But when it comes to busting the bad guys, do the ends justify the means? "PRIMETIME: CRIME" airs on TUESDAY, AUGUST 31 (10:16-11:15 p.m., ET, approximately) on the ABC Television Network.
Plus: Was a decorated policeman, devoted husband and father of three kids the methodical serial rapist - who covered his tracks so well - his fellow Bloomington, Illinois policemen spent over two years searching for with no leads? Jim Avila reports on the search for a serial rapist that led cops to one of their own. (OAD: 12/19/08)
David Sloan is executive producer of "Primetime: Crime."
