ON "PRIMETIME: WHAT WOULD YOU DO?," FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17

What if you saw a young girl being cruelly taunted by other girls � would you confront them? Will restaurant patrons intervene when a waiter complains about a lesbian couple with a child? What if you noticed a baby left alone in a car on a hot summer? How will people react when witnessing overt racial profiling in a chic clothing boutique? Some cases seem to cry out for action -- while others seem to present a choice. "What would YOU do?"

Using hidden cameras, "What Would You Do?" establishes everyday scenarios and then captures people's reactions. Whether people are compelled to act or mind their own business, John Qui�ones reports on their split-second and often surprising decision-making process. "Primetime: What Would You Do?" airs FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

This week's viewers' choice scenarios include:

· Mean Girls: We all know adolescence can be tough and that teens can be cruel. But while "bullying" may be associated with boys, girls can be bullies too. Girls tend to assault their victims verbally, causing deeper, hidden wounds than any playground punch. When "What Would You Do?" creates a scenario where three girls verbally attack another in a park, what will witnesses do? (OAD: 8/6/10)

· Gay Parents: A lesbian couple are eating dinner with their two young children when a nosy waiter interrupts them, questioning their relationship. "Where's your daddy?," he asks one of the children. The waiter complains that having two mommies is "unnatural" and asks the family to leave the restaurant. This scenario is based on real incidents across the country. In fact, gay and lesbian couples can be thrown out of restaurants legally in several states. Will other restaurant patrons intervene, or will they look the other way? (OAD: 5/19/10)

· Baby Left Alone in a Car: Almost 40 children die every year after being left behind in a hot car. Did these kids go unnoticed or did strangers just walk on by? Using a lifelike doll, "What Would You Do?" examines how people passing by would react if they did indeed noticed � would they come to the baby's rescue? (OAD: 8/20/10) ?

· Shopping While Black: How will people react when they witness overt racial profiling in a retail setting? When a store clerk in a chic Manhattan clothing boutique starts trailing a well-dressed black woman solely because of her race, will customers step in or will they turn their heads and just keep shopping? And what will happen if the shoppers being followed are a group of teenagers � will reactions be different? (OAD: 3/24.09)

· The Cell Phone Caller from Hell: Almost everyone has experienced it -- the obnoxious person in a restaurant talking so loudly on his cell phone that there is no escape; everyone must hear every word. How will the frustrated diners react? And when an attractive woman plays the part, does it change everything? (OAD: 7/23/10)

"Primetime: What Would You Do?" has won awards from the Chicago International Television Festival, and the Avon Foundation's 2006 Voice of Change award for exposing "injustice and wrongdoing against women and bringing the message of domestic violence to the mainstream." The Columbia Journalism Review has called the program "a Candid Camera of Ethics."
