NEW YORK, June 12, 2013 � Owen Benjamin brings his stand-up and musical comedy back to COMEDY CENTRAL in the world premiere of "Owen Benjamin: High Five Til It Hurts," debuting on Friday, June 28 at Midnight ET/PT.
In his first one-hour special, Benjamin shares his infinite wisdom and virtuoso musical ability with a live audience at The Moody Theater in Austin, TX. From talking his way out of speeding tickets, to avoiding arrest by the TSA, and even uncovering the solution to road rage, Owen Benjamin is unstoppable. Feel his heat as he takes to the piano and tackles Eddie Vedder, Beethoven, Timbaland, and more.
The "Owen Benjamin: High Five Til It Hurts" extended and uncensored CD/DVD combo will be released on July 2 by COMEDY CENTRAL Records, featuring material not seen in the broadcast. DVD bonus features include Benjamin's episode of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents," and two videos from his CC Studios series "Jokes From The...." "Owen Benjamin: High Five Til It Hurts" will be available on July 2 in HD and SD on iTunes, Xbox Video, Sony Entertainment Network, Amazon Instant Video and Vudu. The album will be available on all digital platforms.
Leading up to the on-air premiere, the COMEDY CENTRAL Stand-Up Web site will feature preview clips from the special. Benjamin will also engage with COMEDY CENTRAL fans via a CC Tumblr "Ask a Professional Comedian" live event, and will live tweet the premiere of the special from @owenbenjamin.
Benjamin's career began in music with an opera singer father and childhood lessons in classical piano. He is currently a series regular on the TBS comedy "Sullivan & Son" and he previously recurred on COMEDY CENTRAL's "Pretend Time with Nick Swardson," MTV's "Punk'd," E!'s "Chelsea Lately," and NBC's "The Tonight Show". Additionally, Benjamin has performed stand-up on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents Owen Benjamin" and COMEDY CENTRAL's "Live at Gotham." His feature film credits include "Jack and Jill," "Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star," "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" and "The House Bunny." Benjamin's short films and web series "Owen Benjamin Presents" and "Gaytown" have accumulated over 10 million hits.
