Mel is surprised by the news her doctor (guest star Beth Broderick) gives her but is unsure if she should share it with Joe while he's in the middle of a major business pitch.

Meanwhile, Ryder forms a study group with the class genius and a hot girl, and Lennox and Zander (guest star Sterling Knight) have a major misunderstanding when Lennox covers for Mel.
