FORMER PROFESSIONAL BOXER LAILA ALI AND GRAMMY AWARD-NOMINATED SINGER ANGIE STONE SWAP LIVES FOR ONE WEEK ON
ABC'S "CELEBRITY WIFE SWAP," TUESDAY, MAY 6
"'Laila Ali/Angie Stone" - Former professional boxer Laila Ali and Grammy Award-nominated singer Angie Stone are featured on "Celebrity Wife Swap," TUESDAY, MAY 6 (10:00- 11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Laila Ali is the daughter of global boxing icon Muhammad Ali and lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband, former NFL Wide Receiver Curtis Conway, and their two children: Curtis Jr. (5) and Sydney (2 ) and Laila's stepson Kelton (18). At the Ali-Conway house, Laila is in charge of the running of the household. From cooking and cleaning to getting the kids off to school, Curtis and Laila are very hands-on parents who keep the kids on a strict schedule, including meal and bed times. Laila is extremely private and has a strict "by invitation only" rule in her home when it comes to visitors. Being former professional athletes, Laila and Curtis enjoy working out in their home gym for one to two hours a day and make health a priority in their home where Laila cooks fresh and healthy meals for the family.
Angie Stone lives in Atlanta, GA with her fianc Ashanti (Tay), their son Khalid (17) and Angie's son Michael (16). At Angie's house, Tay is "the king of the castle" with Angie serving him breakfast in bed every morning. Even though Angie suffers from diabetes, she loves to cook calorie-loaded soul food. The family keeps an open door policy in which friends and family drop by frequently. Angie spends her days shopping and enjoying her free time while the boys and Tay spend time together in the gym. Angie doesn't do well with schedules and likes to "wing it."
When it's time for the swap, Laila is not at all in synch with the "boys club" that Tay and the kids have in which the boys are allowed to have friends and girls over whenever they like, and without coming in the front door and meeting Angie. Laila is determined to get the family living a healthier lifestyle and encourages Tay and the boys to get Angie in the gym with them and help her manage her diabetes.
Back in Los Angeles, Angie struggles to keep up with the family's schedule, and when it's time for the rules change, Angie is determined to shake things up and get the family out of their daily routine.
"Celebrity Wife Swap" features two women of celebrity families trading households, lifestyles and children (but not bedrooms) for one week. During that time, the women -and swap families - learn what it is like to live in someone else's shoes, but everything changes during the second half of the week when the women make their own rules and get the chance to run the household their way. At the end of the week, the couples reunite for a raw, honest and highly-charged exchange of views in which they make frank assessments of one another and discuss the experience.
"Celebrity Wife Swap" is produced by Zodiak Los Angeles. Bruce Toms and Tony Yates serve as executive producers. It is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HD format, with 5.1-channel sound. This program carries a TV-PG, L parental guideline.
