FROM BEATUY QUEENS TO POLITICIANS TO NEIGHBORS, IS EVERYONE LOSING IT? ON "20/20" FRIDAY, JULY 25 ON ABC

Some men kill for money and others for love, but rarely is some shrubbery between two houses the motive for homicide. Such was the case of Michael Vilkin, a retiree, whose simmering landscaping dispute with his neighbor, a renter, John Upton, led to an explosive confrontation, resulting in Upton's untimely demise and the conviction of Vilkin for murder. Matt Gutman sits down with the shooter, both families, the prosecutors, and the neighbors who say the victim himself had a dark side. "Losing It" airs on "20/20," FRIDAY, JULY 25 (10:00 - 11:00 pm ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Plus: Politicians spend a lot of effort trying not to lose it - which makes it even more shocking when they do. Nick Watt takes a look at politicians, both in the United States and overseas, who have brawled, screamed, ranted and raved at their colleagues, at the media, even at their own constituents. Watt's report features Illinois Representative Mike Bost, who earned the nickname "Meltdown Mike" after his rant about pension reform went viral, and Ohio resident Phil Davison, whose speech campaigning for local treasurer made him the target of national teasing.

Also: Chris Connelly interviews two beauty queens who gained instant fame and notoriety after bungling their pageant answers. After losing it on stage, these women reveal what went through their minds during their embarrassing answers, and why they decided not to shrink away in shame but instead to turn their viral fame into career opportunities on their own terms - with humor and a dazzling beauty pageant smile.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is the Executive Producer.
