DESIGNING WOMEN ON "20/20"
Dangerous Women Scheming for a Hit... a Heist... or a Hook Up
Airing Friday, October 10 on ABC
From hiring a hit man to allegedly kill her husband to having inappropriate relations with her high school students, some women will go to extremes to get what they want. "Designing Women" airs on "20/20," FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Reports include:
· Jessica Strom, 33, has spent the last six months sitting in the Marathon County Jail awaiting trial for a crime she says was all a big misunderstanding. Last February she met with an old friend in a Wisconsin diner to discuss murdering her fiancé. At the meeting, which was recorded by police, Strom is heard offering her friend $1000 and "some sex" to shoot her fiancé dead. But when police showed up at her home later that night to arrest her she insisted the conversation was just venting and not meant seriously. Deborah Roberts' report includes the undercover surveillance video of the meeting, video of the police interrogation with Strom late that night, and audio from a jailhouse call Strom made to, of all people, that fiancé asking for help, as well as an interview with Strom in jail and the detective, Jennifer Holz.
· Bank employee Aurora Barerra walks into her East L.A. bank telling her co-worker that she has been kidnapped, has a bomb strapped to her torso, and is instructed to rob the bank or else she would be blown up. Only after she is rescued do cops slowly unravel the stunning real story. Jay Schadler reports.
· Why would a young English teacher risk her career and her marriage to have sexual contact with students at her Plymouth, PA high school? Just two weeks ago, Lauren Harrington Cooper pled guilty to sexual contact with students and corrupting minors. But before going to jail, Cooper sat down exclusively with Deborah Roberts to discuss the ordeal. Roberts also speaks with Cooper's husband about why he has decided to stand by his wife.
"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
