"Pops' Pops' Pops" -- Jack and Diane look for clues about their roots for their class assignment, a history of the Johnson family. But when they can't find anything out about the family's past, Pops comes to the rescue with the colorful story of how "Pops' Pops' Pops'" great-great grandfather, Drex Johnson, bet the future of the Johnson family against a ruthless gangster, Elroy Savoy, during the 1920s Harlem Renaissance, on "black-ish," WEDNESDAY, MAY 20 (9:31-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Sean "Diddy" Combs and Mary J. Blige guest star.
"black-ish" stars Anthony Anderson as Andre "Dre" Johnson/Drex, Tracee Ellis Ross as Rainbow Johnson/Bea, Yara Shahidi as Zoey Johnson/Zara, Marcus Scribner as Andre Johnson, Jr./Jo Jo Rags, Miles Brown as Jack Johnson/Jolly, Marsai Martin as Diane Johnson/Dolly and special guest star, Laurence Fishburne as Pops/Bippy Barnes.
Guest starring are Sean "Diddy" Combs as Elroy Savoy, Mary J. Blige as Mirabelle, Jenifer Lewis as Ruby/Rosey, Deon Cole as Charlie Telphy/Janitor, Jeff Meacham as Josh/Klark and Peter Mackenzie as Mr. Stevens/Mr. Kimble. Renowned choreographer Fatima Robinson choreographed the episode.
"Pops' Pops' Pops" was written by Vijal Patel and directed by Jonathan Groff.
"black-ish" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format with a 5.1 channel surround sound. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to the airdate.
