CODE BLACK (CBS) - Moon Bloodgood's recently cast Rox Valenzuela has already been promoted to series regular for the upcoming third season. (TVLine.com)
DEADLIER THAN THE MALE (TNT) - Chiara Aurelia is the latest to board the drama pilot as Rose Lord, "who on the surface is a beautiful, bored teenager with a mean streak. But as the series evolves, so do her secrets and the growing toxic/intoxicating friendship with the mysterious stranger in her small town." (Deadline.com)
FIFTH SEASON, THE (TNT, New!) - N.K. Jemisin's Hugo Award-winning sci-fi fantasy novel - "an epic drama set in a world where civilization-destroying earthquakes occur with deadly regularity [and] follows three women, each of whom possesses these special, Earth-controlling abilities" - is being developed for the small screen by the cable channel. Leigh Dana Jackson is set to pen the hour, which will also be executive produced by Imperative Entertainment's Dan Friedkin, Tim Kring and Justin Levy. (Deadline.com)
FOR THE PEOPLE (ABC) - Jasmin Savoy Brown will round out the cast of the midseason drama as Allison, "Sandra's (Britt Robertson) roommate, best friend from law school and now colleague in the Federal's Public Defender's Office." She takes over for Lyndon Smith, who played said role in the original pilot. (Deadline.com)
KRISTY KOTTIS (ABC, New!) - Regina Corrado has sold a new drama to the Alphabet "inspired by the real-life Vespa riding, shit kicking, former New York City public school teacher-turned-FBI agent, Kristy Kottis." She was "the first female supervisor in charge of the Guardian Squad, the division responsible for uniting the NYPD, Homeland Security, Secret Service, Amtrack and Port Authority Police in New York City." Felicity Huffman, Rachel Winter and Working Title's Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Andrew Stearn and Liza Chasin will also executive produce for NBC Universal International Studios. (Deadline.com)
SHE WORD, THE (The CW, New!) - Andi Bushell has sold a potential workplace drama to the netlet about "four driven female assistants who discover they have been victims of gender discrimination at their boys' club of a company. They vow to work together to take over by whatever means necessary." Deborah Spera is also on board to executive produce for CBS Television Studios. (Variety.com)
SMOKE AND MIRRORS (FOX, New!) - Janet Tamaro has booked a new drama at the network about "a seasoned former detective who is now a mom stuck behind a desk and raising two kids. She is unexpectedly pulled back into the field to cover for a sick colleague and work alongside a young rookie female detective who has been deep undercover." The project, which has a penalty attached, is set up at 20th Century Fox Television. (Variety.com)
UNDERGROUND (WGN America) - John Legend, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius's Get Lifted Film Co. has inked a first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television for scripted projects. The duo previously collaborated on the recently canceled drama. (Deadline.com)
