Pilot Update: March 31

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from various wire reports each morning:

BOARDING HOUSE: NORTH SHORE (WB) - Mark Burnett Prods. will now produce the summer reality series alongside Basic Elements, a company managed by Carsey-Werner-Mandabach Ventures. The series, which bows June 3, revolves around seven pro surfers who live together on Oahu and compete in one of the world's top surfing competitions.

CRACKING UP (FOX) - Brothers Chris and Paul Weitz ("American Pie," "About a Boy," "Off Centre") have come aboard to direct the comedy pilot, which stars Molly Shannon as one-half of a Beverly Hills couple whose life is changed when a psychology grad student moves into their guesthouse. The Weitz brothers replace Jay Roach, who had been set to direct and exec produce.

JACK'S HOUSE (FOX, New!) - FOX has ordered a last-minute pilot pickup for "Jack's House," from 20th Century Fox TV, about a twentysomething slacker who buys a house and tries to grow up, at least until his buddies move in. Phoef Sutton ("Cheers") wrote the pilot and will exec produce with Robin Schiff ("Grosse Pointe").

OLD SCHOOL (UPN) - Michael Curtis ("Friends") has come on board as executive producer/showrunner of the comedy from Paramount Network TV.

ONCE AROUND THE PARK (NBC) - Sean Marquette ("Hidden Hills") and Allison Scagliotti-Smith ("America's Most Terrible Things") have joined the cast of Heather Locklear led comedy project.

PEACEMAKERS (USA) - The cable network has committed to eight episodes of the western in addition to its two-hour pilot. The series stars Tom Berenger as a tradition-bound federal marshal in the Old West of 1882 who clashes with his young sidekick, a Yale-trained exponent of the newfangled science of forensic investigation (Peter O'Meara). The drama is set to bow later this summer.

RUBBING CHARLIE (CBS) - Adam Bernstein ("Scrubs," "Leap of Faith," "Ed") is set to direct the single camera comedy starring Scott Wolf.

RUN OF THE HOUSE (A.K.A. UNTITLED BETSY THOMAS PROJECT) (WB) - Sasha Barrese has been cast in the comedy pilot. The comedy concerns a teen girl raised by her three older siblings.

TITLETOWN (FOX) - Lauren Storm ("Malcolm in the Middle") and Jud Tylor ("The Outer Limits") has joined the cast of the comedy from 20th Century Fox TV and Brad Grey TV.

TWO AND A HALF MEN (CBS) - Blythe Danner ("Presidio Med") has joined the cast of the Eye comedy pilot where she will play the mother of Charlie Sheen's and Jon Cryer's characters. James Burrows ("Will & Grace") has come on board to direct the pilot, which is executive produced by Lee Aronson, Chuck Lorre and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.

UNTITLED FLETT-GIORDANO/RANBERG PROJECT (ABC) - Chris Sieber ("Two of a Kind") will star in untitled comedy from Touchstone TV and Paramount.

UNTITLED FRATERNAL TWINS PROJECT (FOX) - Cara Delizia ("Boston Public") and Stark Sands have signed on to the untitled Glouberman/Orenstein comedy pilot about fraternal twins.

UNTITLED NICOLE SULLIVAN PROJECT (CBS) - Thomas Ian Nicholas ("American Pie") and John Ducey ("Oh Grow Up") have joined the cast of the Touchstone pilot.

UNTITLED TONY KORNHEISER PROJECT (CBS) - Alexandra Krosney ("The Grubbs") has signed on as Lauren in the comedy project based on the life of the sports columnist from Regency TV.
