CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- As if there aren't enough TV-related releases on DVD in the coming months, Universal Home Video and Columbia TriStar Home Video recently announced a slew of new releases in the past week.
Universal will release the complete first seasons of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" on October 21. Each six-disc set includes all 22 episodes from their respective inaugural seasons. Both feature full frame (1.33:1) transfers, Dolby Surround sound and a suggested retail price of $59.98. Extras and complete specifications for each will be released closer to its street date. The studio had previously released the pilot episodes of each series on the format in June.
Meanwhile, Columbia TriStar will tide over "Dawson's Creek" fans with "Dawson's Creek: The Series Finale - Exclusive Never-Before-Seen Director's Cut" on September 30. The single-disc release includes 25 minutes of previously unaired material from the series closer. Additional information, such as extras and complete specs, is expected in the coming weeks. Currently, the disc carries a suggested retail price of $24.95.
Also on tap from Columbia TriStar on that date is "The Tick: The Entire Series." The two-disc set includes all nine episodes of the short-lived live-action series, one of which was never aired by FOX. Other than a widescreen transfer and a suggested retail price of $29.95, no specs or extras information is available.
