Broadcast Networks Shuffle Final Two Nights of Sweeps
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC is benching Justin Timberlake from its November sweeps schedule and not surprisingly adding another installment of "Law & Order." Both moves affect the final two nights of its sweeps lineup, November 25 and 26.

The Peacock had originally slated the one-hour Timberlake concert special for Tuesday, November 25 at 9:00/8:00c but will instead go with a Shania Twain special, entitled "Up! Close and Personal," during the period. A repeat of "Law & Order" will then fill in for Twain's original Wednesday, November 26, 9:00/8:00c time slot. "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" will lead into both series as previously announced (read the story). To review, here's NBC's schedule for both nights:

Tuesday, November 25
8:00/7:00c - "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"
9:00/8:00c - "Shania Twain: Up! Close and Personal"
10:00/9:00c - "Law & Order: S.V.U."

Wednesday, November 26
8:00/7:00c - "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"
9:00/8:00c - "Law & Order" (Repeat)
10:00/9:00c - "Law & Order"

Meanwhile, CBS is also tweaking its sweeps schedule as the Eye will move up its Thursday, November 27 episode of "Survivor: Pearl Islands" to November 26, the final night of November sweeps. "Survivor" takes the place of "60 Minutes II" in the 8:00/7:00c time period. CBS executives reportedly did not want to waste the fresh installment of the popular reality series on Thanksgiving night which generally features lower viewership than most Thursdays.

Lastly, the WB has slated theatrical movies for its final two nights of the the sweeps period. "Never Been Kissed" takes the place of "Gilmore Girls" and "One Tree Hill" on Tuesday, November 25 while "Josie and the Pussycats" will bump "Smallville" and "Angel" on Wednesday, November 26. And in a post-sweeps move, the Frog has scheduled the special "Christina Aguilera Stripped In London" for Sunday, November 30 at 9:00/8:00c, replacing the canceled "Tarzan" that week.
