SCI FI Channel Announces 'Get in the Gate' Sweepstakes Winner

Biggest Sweepstakes in Channel's History

NEW YORK -- September 16, 2004 -- Consumers love Stargate. SCI FI's third annual installment of its incredibly successful "Get in the Gate" promotion concluded on August 6 � and became the biggest sweepstakes in the history of the Channel. Raking in nearly 700,000 entries, this year's promotion delivered a whopping 1150% increase over last year's Get in the Gate sweep. The lucky winner, Nathan Flamino of Wausau, Wisconsin, scored a trip to Vancouver, Canada for walk-on roles on both SCI FI hit series, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.

This year's Get in the Gate promotion, an annual favorite among SCI FI and Stargate fans, was run in partnership with SCIFI.COM and Yahoo!. In addition to the Stargate production stills, behind-the-scenes photos and video made available on its home page, Yahoo! also hosted fan events in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Consumers were invited to discover the "lost treasures of Atlantis" through Atlantis-themed wading pools and trivia contests. The Stargate casts also joined in on the fun with SG-1 star Amanda Tapping and Atlantis star Joe Flanigan appearing in a series of side-splitting SCI FI promos in which they "auditioned" entrants � singers, dancers, gymnasts and the like � who desperately wanted to "Get in the Gate."

Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis have become the anchor of SCI FI Channel's original programming lineup. To date, season 8 of SG-1 is averaging 2.7 million viewers per episode. Its new sister series, Stargate Atlantis, averages an even more astounding 3.1 million viewers per episode. The mid-season finales for both series will premiere this Friday, September 17 @ 9-11pm ET/PT.
