Kelli Williams and Mom Make Christmas Magic Together

KELLI WILLIAMS AND MOM MAKE CHRISTMAS MAGIC TOGETHER

Actress Shannon Wilcox may be the real-life mother of "Medical Investigation" star Kelli Williams. But that relationship didn't seem to count for much in Hollywood. "One time my agent put me up to play Kelli's mom in something," Wilcox recalls. "[But] the casting director said, 'Oh, no � Shannon is 100 percent wrong for this.'" Wilcox finally gets to play her daughter's on-screen mom in the Hallmark Channel Original holiday movie "A Boyfriend for Christmas." She came highly recommended - by the star herself!

"It felt completely natural and then, at the same time, it was, 'Well, why are you reacting like that?,'" Williams recalls. "There were times when Kelli's character would say, with exasperation, 'Mother!,'" says Wilcox. "Every now and then, I got one of those disapproving looks and I thought, 'I'm glad I haven't had too many of those looks to deal with in real life.'"

"A Boyfriend for Christmas" premieres Saturday, November 27 (9/8c) on Hallmark Channel.
